I looking to buy another 99 FRC with 138k, 3:42 rear ,Z51. Car has a salvage title from Texas. Car runs very strong, burns no Oil,everything works on it and looks like a 70k car. Had light front end damage.I have access to the parts needed which are the Duraflex ZR body panels. How ever this parts need paint.
What would be a fair price for this car afterparts installed and been painted.
Please be honest. The car is not for sale,I just don't want to put more into it, that what is would be worth.
I would have to think the value of the car would be hovering somewhere between $9,000 and $11,000 on a good day. The major things working against you are obviously miles and salvage title.
From your post I am guessing you are looking to buy this car, paint the covers, drive it and/or sell it when done? My caution with that would be those aftermarket bumper covers. It is no secret that those will take lots of labor time to get them to fit right so just be sure to factor that into the cost to get them painted.
If you are trying to buy the car to flip it and make money I would say that might be hard unless you are into it for super cheap. If you are trying to buy the car to fix and have some fun with for a few years I say go for it.
I'm sure you will get plenty of other opinions too.

Now I am just taking a guess here, With that many miles and salvage title I would say maybe 11,000 if you are lucky. To me having a salvage title puts a big flag on the car.

I definitely agreed with you mrBill. I'll be into it for about 7k, before paint.
The damage was so light that you wonder what the insurance company was thinking. I have the option of buying it with out the ZR panels for 6k.

I would nix the duraflex bumpers and go with the 6k option. You can get new covers and have them painted for the $1,000 savings, PLUS they will actually fit when you go to put them on.
I would buy it for 6, fix the bumper cover issues and you're at 7, drive it for a bit and sell it for 10 (9 if you had to move it fast) I think you could make money at this, at the very least break even.

Yeah...That's seems to be the way to go. Been doing some reading and it all reads the same. DON'T SCREW WITH DURAFLEX PANELS Unless you have a ton of time to fit the panels. I was looking for used one and so far I've found most and even in the same color of the car. I'm just dying to drive a C5 6speed.

I sure wouldn't pay a lot of money for it with a salvage title and those miles.
It has a salvage title from "light front end damage?" I highly doubt I would ever buy a car of this stature, but if I was forced to, I wouldn't pay more than $8k for it.
There is no damage to the frame. All the damage was to the top of the front bumper, head lights and the front of the two front bumper. Air bags didn't even when off. I'm getting it for 6k shipped from Dallas.
The guy that has the body parts is asking 1k,but has now dropped the price to $850 shipped.
I seen the car last week when I was in Dallas. I have been looking for FRC for a few months and I've seen some worse than this one for much more. my 98 had 197k when I sold it and it ran perfect no indication of the mileage while you were driving it, my 99 coupe had 256k and i drove it every where without any issues. I'm not affraid of high mileage cars. I think Mr.Bill is closer to what a fair price would be,which may not be what some one here would paid for this type of car.
From your description, I'd be all over it for 6 grand. I see what they go for at auction and that isn't bad. The miles are probably what's keeping it down more than the title.
I'd also have to say in the 10-11grand range done. Take lots of photos to document the actual damage and repairs.
I'm waiting on a few C5s to come up for auction myself. I do a lot of R-Tiltles and someone will always be looking for a bargain. I'm not looking to make money on this one though. I stick to ordinary daily driver stuff for that. But I want a C5 and this way I can swing one. I figure if I get tired of it or don't care for it, I should at least break even. 10g is C4 money so I have to think someone would pay that for a C5 regaurdless of the title. Of course you have people that won't even consider one with an accident showing on the Carfax. An *** for every seat as they say.

When ahead and bought it. $4,700., but after copart fees and shipping from Dallas it comes out to $5,680. I guess that's not bad. It will be here tomorror. I've been wanting a FRC. The two best I seen one for 13k with a good title and 189k miles very well used. The other was for $10k with 145k mile. A northern car with lots of corrosion and rust underneath. Damage to the lower box and a salvage title. I.m estimating this one will need about $1500 in part.
It does not take a lot of damage for an insurance company to "total" an early C-5. This car is already over 100,000 miles and is well over 10 years old. Best case scenario is likely $12,000 retail with a good title.
Front end damage with paint, bumper cover, hood, one fender and one headlight installed and painted would be several thousand dollars. Thorw in a raditator, and air dam etc, and the salvage value is reached.
Easy fixes, but remember it costs almost as much to fix an early C-5 as it does a 2004 model with the same damage.

One of the thing that attracted me to this frc is that I couldn't never find one in decent shape for under 13k, plus this one runs and drive. I flew to Dallas prior to the bidding, not only for the car,but i also have and old girlfriend there.
One rock, two birds, sort of thing. So I seen it and was able to crank it up. Radiator is solid as is the a/c system, Frame is straight as far I I could see. Looked like it ran under something like a tall truck. I will do all the work myself. I believe I will need both front fender and liners, front bumper cover, headlights and a hood. it even still had a C/D in the alpine 6 disc player. I sat in it running and doing an ops check of everything I could think off. This is the second one I've bought from copart. The first one was not that good and i sold it,but I only paid 3k for that one and sold it on Fleabay for almost 6k. See my previous post to see that one. Check my ebay listing to see what it sold. I have my 2008 and that is a very nice car,but I missed my C5 plus the C6 is in the Grand Cayman,I spend 4 to six month out of the year here in North Florida and all I have here until now was a 2007 uplander Van. How the Hell do you go from driving a C6 to a uplander? I didn't want to spend too much as the car will be sitting here for up to six months while I'm in the Cayman. It works out just right, gives me something to play with and stay entertain.
