You may remember the storm that hit the Carlisle Fairgrounds a few years ago and the incredible damage to cars in the Car Corral. Anyone concerned about the storm hitting Pennysylvania?
Possibly might hit Sunday, if it should hit that far inland. I'll be home by then so I'm not worried, unless it makes it to where I live. BTW, yes I remember the storm a couple of years ago. The hotel I stayed in had no power for hours.

Will not be the same type of storm conditions....It may rain Saturday like cats and dogs but the high destructive winds will not be a factor ...That bad storm was a product of extreme heat and a cold front that dropped temps by 20 plus degrees in minutes ..That is not a good weather mix. Tornado warnings were out for the surrounding area 20-30 minutes prior to start of the storm...just that warnings were not given out with a strong notice..not good communication...I was in that storm but i was leaving in my car. It was a ugly storm even in a car. Highs winds and flooding at all exits points getting to Rt.81... It was so hot that day.. I left cause of that late afternoon heat and the approach very dark rolling clouds. No idea of protential storm problem till in the car with the radio on there were warnings of high damaging winds and flooding rains...Show needed to be a better source of reason and alert for all vendors and remaining people in attendences.
I'm coming from NC and after reading this, I'm considering taking the AWD truck instead of the Vette.
* Irene has the potential to be a serious and multi-hazard threat for the major metropolitan areas of the Northeast along and east of the I-95 corridor. This includes New York City. This hurricane has the potential to produce flooding rains, high winds, downed trees (on houses, cars, power lines) and widespread power outages. Significant impacts along the immediate coast include high waves, surge and beach erosion. The severity of the impacts will be determined by Irene's exact path and intensity, which remain uncertain at this time.
* For North Carolina, odds are increasing that the main impact will be confined to the Outer Banks and elsewhere in extreme eastern NC.
I'm going to hitch a ride in my friends vette, being he's getting work done at the showground...mine is staying in the garage covered. I'm not worried so much about the rain as getting back home to nj and dealing w/the flooding of roadways.
I drive down from Western NY state on Friday and spend the afternoon at the show, spend the night and go early Saturday morning, then head back around Noon. That's still my plan right now as the forecast for Carlisle is a 30% chance of a few showers. As long as it stays that way I'll still drive the Vette. If it changes I'll either drive my truck or cancel altogether. My fingers are crossed for decent weather!

The weather channel says the storm isn't going to make it to this area until very late Sunday night. We will be here and setup through Sunday. Not worried about it, looks like we will be packed up Sunday late before she hits.

I'm coming from delaware with my boss we originally we going to drive or cars but with a strong chance of rain and bad weather were going to be making the trip in my duramax instead of the vettes. his supercharged Z and my cammed Z dont mix well with rain so mine will stay in the garage covered and cozy but I still plan on making the trip we will just be leaving earlier then planned
As of now it doesn't look good for mid Saturday and Sunday. The storm has moved further West than first thought. It looks like it will be a cat. 2 as it passes the NJ coast or comes ashore in Southern NJ.
there is a front pushing through here now with heavy rain. it's supposed to stall at the coast and interact with the storm coming north. one would think that the high pressure area that will be in place here would help to push this storm farther east which would spare us.
mostly.
Forecasters have no idea what will happen. I am heading there Saturday banking on they will be wrong, they always are. They are using the storm as a way to sell advertising.
