Ok so when I hit the AC button the light turns on and cold air comes out but it turns off a little after and it does not blow cold air. What could be the problem?
Might be low on Freon. Not sure if the C5 has a safety type of shut off if the freon is low in the system so that you don't burn out the compressor. Someone with more C5 knowledge will have to chime in on that. Years ago back in the day 60's GM had in place a A/C Fuse on cars and when the freon was low the fuse would blow out under the hood to protect the compressor. At the time it was a great idea when you come down to think about it. The fuse was called a Thermal Limiter.
My 01 did the same thing, I put freon in it, but was back to same issue a day later. I now have a new compressor. Also with out the compressor running, your fans do now come on right away, out here in Palm Springs CA, that becomes an issue real fast. Anyway I spent 1100 on the A/C repair, labor, parts, freon, disposal. I thought it was just a leak, and was fixable. I am not real happy with automotice repair.
Get someone to put a set of A/C Gauges on the car to get a reading. This will tell you right away if you are low on Freon which means you have a leak somewhere in your system. Filling it with freon could last a day a year or less then an hour depending on the leak.
