My 99 coupe has 79k on the clock. It has original wagon wheels and stock size run flats with plenty of tread. Bought the car with 72k and not sure if the original shocks are on the car. When I get it up to 70 - 75 mph the suspension feels loose and the car just feels unstable. It's not smooth like at lower speeds. Could this be as simple as shocks or what else could be my issue ?
Start with checking the Sways bars & End links front and rear. They should be tight. Give them a good shake and see if they're loose.. Also you could have lost a wheel weight..
Are you "tramlining"? Search that term on the forum and see what you get.
What is the date of manufacture on your tires?
Old run-flats will be hard, regardless of their remaining tread, and will tramline a lot.
Could be your issue. Also. what brand are your tires? GY are the worst for this problem, in my experience.
Good luck!
I bought my 02 Coupe in 2009 with 9k on the clock and original tires looked brand new but showed signs of age on the sidewalls. First thing I did was swap to Pilot Sports for exactly that reason.
