hey guys,
I'm looking to upgrade my head unit to something that looks better than the stock option. I know many people have changed their head units so I'd like some pics and reviews of what current forum members have. I'm looking for something that looks good, can connect to my iPod, and has bluetooth. Thanks in advance
I did the install myself, BUT, Donna or Dennis will guide you if you need more help (their instructions are included) The most important thing is to send in your bezel so Dennis can mod. it to a Double Din. This may take a couple of weeks but ckeck with Dennis first.
I installed the Pioneer x920bt, Also I added the XM radio.
What I have is Nav, I-Pod, XM, FM,AM, also you can add back-up camera.
Call Dennin and Donna, they are great people, and will not leave you hanging. If you need install help, E-Mail me and I will send you instructions and pictures.
i bought i pioneer unit with bluetooth, ipod connection, usb connection, remote & has 2 amp hook ups. sounds great & looks good in there. the pics of the one above though is awesome.
I bought a Clarion FZ501 last Friday from Crutchfield. I got the Metra adapter to coordinate with the Bose powered subwoofers. It was 1/2-price as a combo with the head unit ($45.) They also threw in the adapter faceplate and the antenna adapter.
Sonic Electronix was about $8 cheaper but then I found a coupon code 3A325 for $20 discount or one 3A385 for a $25 gift card. I am not sure when I would use the gift card so I did the discount. I also linked in from American Airlines eshopping site for 554 frequent flier miles. I think final price was about $185.
The Clarion has a clean front-end instead of the video game look so common today. It has Bluetooth and I can plug in a flash drive on the front to play thousands of MP3s.
I really like the EXTREMELY clean look of the double-DIN conversion that Dennis does but I wanted something economical and I am new to the forum and didn't know about his work. Perhaps in the future.
You should really use the PAC harness with your install. the metra is known to go bad. That's why we do not use it in our packages. just saying so you not surprised one morning when you have a dead battery
If you would like more info on this just send me a message

Dennis, you obviously have a ton of expertise in this area. Do you have any links for the PAC or a model number? Thanks!
Sure do
These are links to PAC website to tell you specs on the harness
the PAC roem-vet1 is what you want
The Metra harness will work. They have been know to just sometime not shut off as the RAP features this unit has simply stays on and the radio will then be on causing battery drain.
