Default damaged my car

Im so bummed about this. I treat this car as best as I can and now this happened! I parked next to a sidewalk that had a good 3 inch rise on it and well my dumb self forgot about the ledge upon leaving and well as you can see the rocker panel found out what concrete tastes like! I took her to a body shop and was quoted almost 900 for the fix.

I did the same thing to my '07. A body shop close to me was able to repair it beautifully and matched paint exactly. Mine was worse than yours. Cost was $350 and know that mine is Montery Red which is really hard to match. Looks great now.

Accidents do happen - sorry about the bad luck but the body shop should be able to make it look like new again. Best of luck with the repair.

Damn - that sux. Shop around for a better price to fix her.

Just a question - if the car wasn't slammed down would it have still hit the curb?

I just see a lot of folks lower the cars and then tear it up on "road obstacles"....

The dealer gave me a better price today for 700. I might just have them do it. If the I car wasn't lowered I prob would've cleared it.

Thanks guys for the compliments

I had the same thing happen & did it the same way. Mine was every bit as bad, mine was repaired & you can't tell that a repair was ever done. I spent about $350 for the repair. The guy that did the repair said the hardest thing about the repair was getting it high enough to work on it.

I've had to have the rockers fixed on mine twice. You won't be able to tell once they're done.

Here's a crazy thought - perhaps it is a good time to consider the rear brake duct mod....

Good luck on the repair.

Plus, now would be a good time to perhaps have the other side touched up and any other chips, etc. It's cheaper for the shop once they pull out the paint/materials to do more vs. less. You could probably negotiate a nice deal.

Your car looks great! You obviously take good care of it, so I know how much it must hurt to have a self-inflicted wound like that!

On the bright side, you didn't wipe out a rim in the process too!

Im sorry I thought I mentioned it the 700 is for both sides. Drivers side has minor scratches so I figured what the heck.

Yeah I was pretty worried about the rim when I heard the scrape. Just glad nothing happened to it

That seems very high to me...the rocker area is an isolated area...meaning it has a clean break front and rear...nothing has to be blended. When I did my rear brake scoops, I had the paint shop do both sides for 150 dollars.. that hit is just a little epoxy, some sanding and some paint and its just one side...
I wouldnt pay more than 250 to get that fixed.

I did this myself and never did body work before... I could fix that hit in two hours.. 900 dollars is insane. the shop that painted my rockers, also painted my MCM hood, did a perfect job with a perfect match for 500 dollars.. I suggest you look around. You dont want a new rocker, you just want it repaired.. 900 dollars would be the cost to remove the old glued on racker and replace it with a new one... there is about 800 in labor just to remove the rocker and put on a new one... which is not the way to go.

I had a local paint shop paint both rockers for 150 dollars.
