Looking for QUALITY rear black "Corvette" letters
I am looking for some quality rear black corvette letters.
They don't want to stay on my car! Hell I even have to tape over the letters when I wash the car or else they will fall off even easier. Not sure what the deal is. I started out with a set from Corvette Central. I cleaned and prepped the surface with paint thinner and made sure it was warm before applying the stickers. When the letters didn't want to stick anymore I started replacing them with a set from Mid America. Now I need another set and I am tired of replacing these and taping up the rear of the car when I want to wash it. Looking for something that will stay on the car.

I know the instructions say rubbing alcohol specifically. Not sure if paint thinner has a different type of alcohol in it. I just bought some black letters at Carlisle. They can get quite expensive. Good luck

FWIW, I had one of mine come off when drying. They were the kind that stuck out further than the embossment. I got replacement foam adhesive material but never could get it to stick. I used rubbing alcohol to clean. found out later that you should only clean with either the 3M prep towlettes or Denatured alcohol.

Pre treating the surface. . .
If you pre-treat the letters indentation surface with this "3M adhesive promoter", 3M #4298 you won't have this problem ever. I installed my Cyberdine Graphics in My 2003 50th Anniversary coupe. But you need to use a Q-tip to apply the 3M product, it's comes out wet & clear and you only want it on the surface your going to apply the letter/adhesive. But I used it on my steering wheel.Dash and door sills and those babies are welded on. I bought the pen applicator and used it to sook a Q-tip to wipe down the attachment area. Fantastic hold.

Try Randy at www.hrwmotorsports.com. He sold me some Cyberdine stuff - has good prices and excellent customer service.

In terms of quality, the SS set from Mid-America are by far, my favorite set. They have rounded edges that help prevent MF detail and/or drying towels from snagging and they are far more sturdier than the vinyl or domed plastic letters.
I tried the Cyberdine letters and although they look good, they did not stand a chance against the first Florida summer rain storm I drove through. I lost 3 in the front and the two TTs in the back and that was after prepping the area properly and using the 3M adhesive promotor pen shown above.
If you don't like the look of the SS, you could perhaps sand and paint them black, giving you the look you want plus the stability of the SS.
Good luck!

I saw this vendor at the Bloomington Gold and was impressed with how "sticky" the back of these were.
