Default Seat Front Vertical position going nuts

Just got the 2000 coupe Vette and the front of the driver's seat will randomly start to rise to full extension. Sometimes the seat will move forward, but not always.

After reading all the posts in the forum that I could search out I ran the DIC codes and came up with these that seemed to relate to the seat:

RDCM
B2263H HORIZONTAL POSITION SENSOR FIT
B2283H BATTERY #1 FAULT
U1064 H LOSS OF COMMUNICATION WITH BCM
LDCM
B2262H HORIZONTAL POSITION SENSOR FIT
B2282H BATTERY #1 FAULT
U1064 H LOSS OF COMMUNICATION WITH BCM
SCM
B2605H SEAT FRONT VERTICAL POSITION SENSOR FAILURE
B2172H C SEAT FRONT UP SWITHC SHORTED TO GND
B2860H

Since then I have taken the seat out, ohmed the wiring, no shorts, and cleaned off all the contacts & plugs under the seat. I also pulled the HVAC head and re-soldered the resistors. Put everything back and ended up with 8 1/2 volts by the time the seat went back in. Figured lights must have been left on or something else silly. Jumped it and drove to dinner and back. The seat front did it's vertical rise again, but not so bad. Later the switch just stopped working.

This morning I pulled the seat and found that I could wiggle the wires from the switch and get some movement from the seat. Problem was, I could still hear something else moving after I had stopped moving the wires. I also noticed the vertical drive motor was quite warm.

Pulled the seat again and rechecked everything, put it back in place and the switch would work the vertical front sometimes. Then, it just started going up again. Meanwhile the battery had gone back down to 8 1/2 volts after being on a charger all morning during the testing.

My next step was to just pull the 3 wire plug to the motor, at least it won't move or heat up. So now I'm throwing codes:

LDCM
U1064 H LOSS OF COMMUNICATION WITH BCM
99HVAC
B0367H RIGHT ACTUATOR FEEDBACK OPEN
SCM
B2605H SEAT FRONT VERTICAL POSITION SENSOR FAILURE
B2172H C SEAT FRONT UP SWITCH SHORTED TO GRD
TCS
C1255H EBTCM INTERNAL MALFUNCTION

Some of that makes sense, since I did disconnect the motor.

I have not take the driver's side door apart to check anything back there.

So I'm wondering if the actual seat switch is the culprit, the motor or some other undiscovered wire of sensor?

First Corvette and getting a real baptism by electricity here. Hope that made some kind of sense. Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated.

Yeah, lot of similarity there with the chair. Hopefully I won't need the power of Christ to fix this thing though!

I had the same problem. At first, I manually turned the screw/shaft adjuster back down to a comfortable position and simply pulled-out the flexible shaft that links the motor to the tilting mechanism. When I kept hearing the motor phantom cycle, I pulled the fuse. I sure would like to get the long term fix, but I won't spend hundreds of dollars to do so...

I pulled the plug on the motor after setting the tilt. It throws codes though.

Have a new battery now to take that out of the possible problems. I'm going to check the sleep voltage again, the .02miliamps. Then I'm going to reconnect the motor and check the sleep amps again. If this doesn't solve the problem I'm thinking a new / used seat switch. If all else fails I can pull the seat circuit breaker -- if I can find it!

Pulling the fuse (not the plug) shouldn't throw a code.

Thanks for the link. The new battery has helped. Seat still moves up though even with the motors 3 control wires pulled.

Ok. Link I found said the seat control module was on a circuit breaker and the seat is on a relay.

I guess it's pull relay 35, if I can't get anything else to work.

Mine did the same thing after washing the car, found water was leaking onto the switch and shorting it, and killing the Batt. I replaced the switch and sealed the window no more possessed seat.
