Ordered a set of stainless rear bumper letters yesterday and was wondering if anyone has any advice on installing these straight. I know you are to clean the area with alcohol first, but one sight recommended spraying a little soapy water on first to be able to move them around in case they are a little crooked. Anyone have any experience installing these inserts.
Thanks Den
the stainless steel are pretty easy. its the vinyl that can be more difficult. Just make sure you clean the area with alcohol and use an adhesive promotor which usually comes with the letters.
I used a Q-tip to help prep/clean the recessed areas and then used the 3M adhesive promotor pen. Press firmly and you should be fine. The only tricky part are the middle sections of the "E"s. If you don't get those on straight, they tend to reflect differently than the rest of the letters which are one piece. Tweezers usually help.
I do not recommend soap and water to help move the letters, because you don't want them to move. You have a few seconds to fiddle and adjust before the bonding process starts.
the letters will look awesome on your car... can't give advice as when i bought my car they were already there. they make a big difference on the look of the back of the car.

I'll state the obvious and say...DON'T DROP IT! After you've pulled off the paper backing that is. Make sure you are in a clean area or put some cardboard on the ground. Nice car.
I put the raised vinyl on mine...just start with a coner of the letter and slowly work the letter into the impression of the car, you'll be fine; just take your time and try to get a stool to sit on

Just have a steady hand and be very patient when you put the letters on the fascia. When I installed my lettering kit, I gently placed the letter to the fascia - that way if it wasn't perfect I didn't have to pull hard to reposition it.
Sorry to bump an old thread, but I need clarification on this information. I got the stainless letters and I am not sure how to apply the adhesive promoter. I received a small tube of promoter with the letters. How much do I apply? What should I use as an applicator? How careful do I need to be that none of the promoter pushes out beyond the edges of the letters?
First thing to do is test fit the letters. My E's didn't fit flush and i had to file them down.
Clean the area with rubbing alcohol with a q tip to remove dirt and wax. Apply the promoter with a qtip if it didn't come in a small sponge applicator bottle. Don't worry about over shooting it'll clean off.
Follow directions for dry time and apply letters.
