~ ~ BlackWing Filter Cleaning ~ ~ Choices ~ ~
I think it's time to clean the Blackwing filter. I had bought the cleaning (cleaner spray & Blue oil spray can) Kit a couple of yrs ago. I can't find it anymore.... I looked online and they've gone up quite a bit in price, so I wanted to know if there are other alternatives of cleaning/re-oiling, unless someone has one laying around they're not using and wanna sell me. Suggestions..?
Thanks!
P.S: and plz don't lecture me on why I can't spend $20-$25 or so on a new kit for a Corvette....yada yada yada... I know that... But asking questions, research, and alternatives is what makes this forum FUN

As far as cleaning, you can use diluted SIMPLE GREEN and a good stream of water from the inside out.
Personally, I would not use homemade oil concoctions. The "Blackwing" media is synthetic. Use the right product recommended by the manufacturer.
Buying direct from S&B FILTERS is the least expensive...
