And my Sunday started out so good. I was ripping through my HoneyDo List like crazy. My wife finally agreed to let me get rid of the monstrous artificial Christmas tree in the attic. I backed my Vette out of the garage to gain access to the attic. I stuffed the Christmas tree which was consuming my attic into the back of my Ford Edge. It was stuffed!!!
Weird how stupid little things make you happy......as i backed out to make a run to Good Will i felt and heard the thud. God i hated to get out and look, but i had forgotten about the Vette and backed right into it. I am still so f@#$ing mad at myself.
So, i'm going to need a new front bumper. It tore it two places, and the drivers fender split and cracked. Maybe someone can repair the fender, but i want the car back like it was.
Does anyone know if $$$ can be saved by buying a bumper and fender from some place other than dealership or body shop? If so, where and how much?

try vette recycling last i checked they had fenders and a nose in stock in then you might be able to get away without a repaint
I recommend trying to find used pieces in the same color. It won't take more than a couple hours to repair and should be about $400-500 for the parts. Plus, no one will ever be able to tell because it still has factory paint.

Look in the C5 parts for sale section here on the forum. Seems like someone is always parting out a car and many times there are fenders involved. Or like has already been mentioned - try the used parts vendor here on the forum.

You did what I did years ago...a double accident in the driveway! anyway, try FParts and Cleveland Pick-a-Part on ebay....their prices are reasonable, and if you are close you can pick up the parts and save freight costs...
no matter what you are going to need paint work...a good shop will make it look like this never happened....consider it your Christmas gift to yourself .....sorry
Condolences on the boo boo!! I can imagine the pain,,but don't beat yourself up for it,,nobody's perfect. Just a sign of the times,,we are all just a little too busy and are running in a constant state of distraction!! Good luck with the fix!!!
I did the same thing but a little different. My wife said hey get something out of the attic so I back her Honda Odyssey out of the garage and hit the front bumper of my Avalanche that I had parked there the night before. I was being nice the night before and parked near the front door so she would not have to walk up to the front door. Repair cost was $500.00 for hers and mine was $850.00 and that was working a deal. I found a used rear bumper for hers and mine I had the bumper resin repaired and painted and now the both look like new again. Now I will never park near the garage door with anything of mine. Good thing for me is my wife has also backed out of our garage 3 times so far and ran into other peoples cars so she couldn't say much. If it would have been my Vette I would have flipped. Sorry about your car. I hope it comes out good when it's all done. I'll never park behind the garage door again and I tell everyone not to as well.
