Long story short- I swerved to avoid hitting a cat, lost control, hit curb on median, then bounced and hit curb on sidewalk. Airbags deployed, front passenger suspension/wheel are mangled, rear driver's suspension/wheel as well, and some body damage....
The cat was unharmed in the making of this disaster.
Does anyone know of a good shop that could repair my vehicle in the southern California area? Preferably San Diego county.
The insurance adjuster is coming today or tomorrow for a viewing.
UPDATE: Preliminary estimate from the adjuster was $11,100, but it is sure to rise once the shop gets it on the lift.
Thanks in advance.
Here are pics of the damage:
Notice the furniture dolly supporting the front corner of the car. The ball joint dislodged, among other things.

Sorry for your troubles. Might try posting in the regionals section also. Next time hit the damn cat.

Thanks Alex. I will post there as well. I said the same thing to myself after the fact, but in reality it was just a reaction; I did not have time to think.

No problem, I understand. Sometimes those things just happen. Don't worry though, PLENTY of C5s out there.
Sorry to hear of your misfortune. Reactions are made in a split second. I think most of us react automatically since it just as well could have been a small child.
Unfortunately sounds like a total loss. Airbags and seatbelts cost a fortune and I suspect the same for the suspension since they all get the "Corvette Tax" Insurance companies will not put used suspension, steering or restraint system parts on.
If it's a clean low mile car, someone will most likely put it back on the road.
May as well wait on the appraiser before getting too involved picking a shop.
My father told me DO NOT GO OUT OF YOUR LANE TO MISS A SMALL ANIMAL, just try to line it up with the center of the car
A young girl move over to miss a dead small dog and hit dad new ford pickup
This is a lesson I used and I think its good advice
Sorry about your car and in most cases if the air bags are deploy on a C5 your car will be a total loss, it don't take much for insurance to total a C5
They cost a lot to repair and they are so many parts that are discontinue I'm afraid that many C5 will not live a extended life for that reason

If the cat has an owner and you can prove it, go after them for letting the damn cat out in the first place. Irresponsible pet owners SUCK.
I wish I could find that owner, I hate it when they let cats roam freely.

Let us know how you make out.
I did not think it would be total loss, I hope not. The car is extremely clean and only has 45k miles on it.
MY IMMEDIATE REACTION IS TO STAY ON COURSE. GLAD YOU'RE ok
Everyone loves saying that, but you react differently when it is a split second decision and you don't have time to analyze the situation. Hindsight is 20/20.
Sorry about your car man. I have 2 cats of my own but it would be the cat's last day on earth if it ran in front of me. I know hindsight is 20/20 but I bet next time you will squish a cat. I have personally broadsided a deer on my Harley instead of trying to avoid it and I stayed upright and unharmed. Can't say the same for the batwing fairing on my Electra Glide though... again sorry about your Z..
