Do any of you guys who have a kwik lift, have the castors also? How easy is it to move around with the car on the lift? I have the lift but I was thinking of getting the castors if the car rolls around on it easy enough.
I have a KwikLift and while I don't have the castors, I have done some research on them and here is what I can tell you...
1) The castors are installed after the vehicle is driven on the Kwiklift. The process in my opinion is not elegant. I had assumed prior to my research, that the castors could some how be installed BEFORE the car goes on the lift... not the case.
2) The Kwiklift castors have no brakes on them! So any slight incline and you might find your car rolling down the street or out of your garage.
I don't have the answer to your precise question about the ease or difficultly of moving the Kwiklift once loaded with the car on castors. However, I was so dissuaded from the issues above, I chose not get the castors. If you like, PM me with your email address and I would be happy to send you the PDF file I got from Kwiklift which describes the procedure to install the casters.
personally i have never considered the casters for my quiklift. it is set up in my garage and i park on it. i never intended to roll it anywhere other than where it is currently located, so i never even considered the idea of casters.
Hey you guys, thanks for your input. I never even thought about it rolling on an incline. The garage has a slight incline so the water can run out towards the door, so that would be a bad idea. Hate to wake up and find my car and lift had run out the door. I've already had the jack slip out from under the lift when I was letting my Hot Rod down and did some damage, but that's another tale. Thanks guys.......
I'f been using a quick lift with the castors for a number of years. Putting the car on it is strait forward. The front castors go under the front pylons and then drive the car up the lift. Jack up the rear and put the rear castors under the back supports and let the jack down.
As far as moving around is concerned it takes a good push to get it going. If the incline in your garage is the normal pitch for water you don't have to worry about it rolling away on you. I find them very usefull.
