I think you will find that LED bulbs in stock housings won't be as bright as stock bulbs.

Hmmm, does that mean you have to replace the entire housing?

Mr Bill is right, LED's in the stock housing will not be as bright. You should replace the whole thing with the LED Halo taillights and black those out. Those babys are twice as bright as the stock and look great. You should get them with the halo mod, thats what I did and I love them, one of my favorite mods. Look around for them or check out youtube for vids to see how they really look. Good luck bro.

I'm building a heck of a pricey mod list and I still have 15 days to Z-Car!

Default LEDS brighter than stock

I purchased and recieved qty4 3157 18 SMD 5050 LED stop brake tail light BULBS 12v red thru amazon to speedshop. I recd a 1st shipment of 2 BULBS and immediately installed them on the original taillight housings on the left side of my C6. I had my wife come out and fire up the c6 and run thru the "parking light, stoplight, turn signal" process and there was definitely a difference in the brightness of the taillight housing. The housing with the standard 3157 bulb did not illuminate the entire circular housing. the oem housing with the 18 smd was illuminated a full 360 degrees. PLUS IT WAS brighter. THe LED also lit up much faster than the 3157 when you step on the brake pedal.
I still have hyperflash but based on all the young folks texting and such I want to catch their attention. I may get around to putting resistors on each bulbs but its not high on my priority list.
price for the 4 bulbs plus shipping? $43.39.

I just ordered the same ones for my c5.... do I have to change the flasher switch?.... there was a note on one of the vendors site saying it had to be changed. But other vendors didn't note that

Depends on which ones you got, The good ones has the hyper flash unit installed on the back of each light, It will be a finned silver unit.

Default LED bulbs

I must have about 15 different led bulbs that I found on the auction site. The latest is a LEd replacement for the 3057 taillight bulbs. First off they are so big that won't fit through the hole in the tail light housing. I waited till dark and had the garage with no light on, and had all four tail light light sockets hanging out of the tail and i inserted a 16 diode LED bulb, a Sylvania stock 3057, 27/5 watt, and a aftermarket Halogen S8 27/7 watt bulb.

In the end the Stock 3057 was only slightly dimmer against the Halogen S8 27/7 watt bulb. The big LED wasn't ever close in brightest, I tried it with the 194 taillight bulbs / Again the stock bulbs were brighter than LED. So I tried the LED route, and it's a waste of money. So either it's a stock or a halogen bulb. But I couldn't find a single LED that put out any more light than the stock bulbs.

I have seen sites that reference changing out the 2 flashers (turn signal and emergency) and that will fix any hyperflash. but my C6 apparently does not use flasher units...its all electronic/computer. Your C5 probably has the replaceable flasher units.
Thats my guess.
