Just returned from a 2036 mile round trip to South Florida from Virginia. My 02 Convertible ran flawlessly. Not a single hiccup.
Did this trip in four approximately 500 mile days with minimal discomfort, turned 67 on the trip so I ain't a kid anymore!
Computer says average speed was 61 mph which is remarkable since I did about 100 miles of city traffic driving around Ft Lauderdale and Miami. On the highway I pushed it pretty good doing about 10 over in the posted 65 and 70 mph stretches whenever I could.
Computer also says 24.3 average mpg. Only non stock item is the set of B&B Bullets, (that I never tired of listening to).
Got several waves on the road and a compliment or two almost everywhere I stopped. Between the heat and the rain I never put the top down once on the whole trip!
Put the car in the garage for a few days then the detailing begins all over again!
Sounds like you had a good trip! Take any pictures?
Kind of new to posting pictures but here goes. I already deleted one I took of the head up display showing 128 going down I-95 that I emailed to my wife.
She couldn't see the kl in smaller letters to the right of the 128. I got an instant reply that said:
"For God's sakes slow down and stop taking pictures"!
Notice the huge beads of water on the hood and the dry pavement and sunshine ahead. Big shower about four blocks back! Florida weather! This is the intersection of Las Olas Blvd at A1A at the ocean.

Any tips for people going on a road trip soon themselves?
Yes I have a few tips for traveling. Always ask for, and always insist on a ground floor room that you can park in front of. All the better if you can crack the window; obvious reasons.
Years ago, airlines would offer passengers a hot wet face cloth at the end of a flight. The Flight Attendant would come by with a tray and tongs to offer you a towel. It was great!
The C5 center console gets so nice and warm (maybe hot, melts chap stick) that I decided to put a wet motel wash cloth in a zip-lock bag and put it in the console.
300 miles down the road, I pulled it out for the "on the road facial"
If you do this, you will be glad you read this message!
