Default 2000/2001 Yellow purchase

2000/2001 yellow with removeable top is my color and in my price range. Should I stay away from these because of the oil consumption issue. If this is true I will get a 99 red one. Only interested in 50k or less mile in well above average condition. Thx

Buy what you want and add oil... It isn't that big a deal to keep me from buying one.

I guess it's "hit, or miss." I've got a 00-C5, and not a bit of oil consumption at all, and we're over 80k miles.

I just bought a yellow 2002 with 12,460 miles on it and could not be happier. Oil? Check it once a week and fill as necessary.

If you find one for the correct price, and it's mechanically sound, buy it. But don't make your buying decision just because of the oil issue. These cars could have other problems that are more costly.

Thank you all for the welcome opinions. Please continue to comment on this thread as it sounds like the 01 has many improvement. But the improvement come with oil consumption issues.

Hahahahahahahaha.
I wouldn't worry about a little oil being used, It all depends on hard you drive the car, 2002 here and no oil issues at all. I would get an oil catch can in any case.

I guess if you buy one that has the oil consumption issue, you better hope the owner didnt run it low on oil often.

Yes, some '00-'01 cars, especially the 6-speeds, had the oil consumption issue but not all did. Hard to tell which ones might but I wouldn't discount buying those years just because of that.

You are fretting to much over this issue. Ask the owner about oil usage,,,most will tell you the truth!

If you are buying a yellow car oil consumption is the least of your concerns.

the yellow comment was a joke. He got to it before I did.

Really, even those cars that had oil consumption issues didn't go though THAT much oil. It was an annoyance more than anything and GM didn't fix them unless it was extreme (VERY FEW).

Like others have said, do not let that be your first or biggest concern.

Buy a nice car and enjoy.
