Well, after much lurking (and lusting), I took advantage of GM's new 3.9% financing and drove home yesterday in a new Z. She had 2 miles on the Odo when I left the lot. I was treated really well by the dealer. The salesman even volunteered to rack it so I could take a peek underneath. Turns out that he owns several older Vettes, so he understood how things are supposed to work.
I am now suffering from that chronic grin condition I've read about here. I did hear from a long-time friend and vert owner that it may go away at ~160, when I realize there's still space between the pedal and the floor...
Since this is my 1st Vette (and my first Chevy), I'll be leaning on some of you oldtimers for education. I think the most enjoyable thing (so far) is to watch the Boxters, Stangs, Beamers, etc. pull alongside on the highway, hoping to stir my testosterone. Since I know full well I can whip their ***es, I don't feel the need to try (at least until she's broke in really well).
My wife said I bought a time machine, since I'm acting 18 again! I'll try to get some pics up this weekend...
You've had it for a day and it isn't gotten it broken in yet?
Slacker :)
Bought mine on Thursday, went past 500 miles that Saturday afternoon, heading for its first full rip in the hills. Was on the track first time inside 1,700 miles. Had 2,800 miles on the clock inside the first month. Gonna need new tires by 3,600 miles easily. That's not a grin on my face, it's a sympton of chronic addiction! :D
Want to experience a real time-machine effect? We were traveling I-15 South to San Diego a few weeks ago, when we got stuffed in a wad traffic moving at 52mph (minivan causation of course)... Saw an opening through the crowd, and asked my wife.. "Did I mention this car has Warp Drive?" Befor she could ponder my insanity, I dropped the beast into third and pressed the loud pedal hard and ran it to redline, then into 4th. The car accelerates so quickly to 95mph+ (all I'll admit to officer), that traffic seemed to just freeze and let us motor by at the differential of 45 mph (ahem), into the open freeway beyond. Her only comment was "Jeez!, I guess!" It's even better when you do this at the track at 137mph, freezing little German cars with "M" badges in time, as you motor on by!
Congrats on the new toy... may you become as obsessed as I!
Congratulations! :D And welcome to the CorvetteForum. This is a great place to hang around with folks who know and love the only sports car that matters! :yesnod:

Who you calling a slacker?
I belive you were slacking! I picked up my Z06 with 6 miles on her and still in the plastic, That was this saturday at around 5 PM by 10pm on sunday I was at 524 miles! ;)
And congrats Z meister on your new purchase!
Slacker :) ?! ouch. You get points for accuracy, though. This work stuff really sucks...
I have to make a trip some 60 miles south of Dallas this weekend. I thought about forgetting something at home or missing my exit (by several counties). Perhaps both. That should just about cover the "baby it" stage.
I'm also considering setting up across from Six Flags and offering rides. I think I could steal a fair amount of business   .
Thanks to all for the kind words. I'm really looking forward to earning my set of replacement tires :reddevil

You're getting close, now, just select the proper Six Flags location, and you can rack up some quality seat time. For example, we have a fine Six Flags here in the Los Angeles area... :yesnod:
We have a Six Flags near Dallas. I was thinking that if I price things right, I can cover the costs of getting the seats cleaned :) and still have enough to pay for the gas.
I was proposing one drive an additonal 3,000 miles in the car, while going to and from the venue.... which to me would be much better than just heading to the nearest locale... heck, I'd just drive the 3,000 miles, looking for the most twisted routes, in search of the most remote tourtist traps... but that's just me I guess.
