I don't think it is possible to buy new snow tires anymore for Corvettes. Does anyone know where I can find some good used snow tires? Thanks! jimrichiii@aol.com
Please tell me u are not wanting to drive your car in the snow - It doesn't snow where I live but from what I've seen and read it doesn't look like a very good idea
Some of the posts I read whenever snow is discussed just make me laugh so hard.. It's a freakin car, drive it!!.. Finding the right sizes for a C5 would be difficult though.. And for the people who think its not going to do well, I drove my 99 LS1 Camaro that had Full Bolt-on's, a Frost Mail Order Tune and No traction control, in the snow the last two winters. Equipped with 70lbs of weight in the back and Blizzak LM-22's on all four corners, she did fine.. Even with the huge storm we got last year. SUV's getting stuck, little four bangers stuck, a 340 rwhp Camaro flys right past them, no problem. I trust that car in the snow over my 98 Monte Carlo any day.

Ya right.
SUV's getting stuck and you drove right by them... with 22...lol
It’s not always about snow. I have a set of Conti Extreme Contact all season tires which I normally throw on for winter time use. No, I have never driven in the snow but during the winter months there are plenty of nice cold, sunny, dry days which the car really performs well in. Most performance tires, including my GSD3’s are not meant to be used temps less than 33F as the tires will break loose with ease causing some tense moments. The Conti Extreme Contact stick much better in those cold dry conditions.
If I were serious about driving my Vette in the snow, I wouldn't try to find snow tires to fit my rims, I would buy a set of skinny wheels and use much narrower snow tires. I know someone who did this with his C4 and it worked well in the snow. I prefer having a cheap winter car because where I live most people don't know how to drive in the snow and inevitably somebody is going to slide into my baby. I got a cheap Olds Alero, boring but serves well as a winter driver.
The c5 is pretty nice, with the t/c, and active handling, wasn't bad at all. Even made a vid testin my alpine pilot tires. Look on youtube....timritcieblue
I have since sold the snow tires, and lookin @ a beater this year, prob still drive the vette
I have some all weather Nokian tires on the back that I hope will be effective if I get caught out in some bad weather. I would imagine that the Corvette being so low would cause me more problems than traction and for some cars I have seen it would be like driving a snow plow.
I was going to drive mine this winter to sell my ****** (going to make me crash this winter, seriously) 90' 1500 Jimmy, but decided to park it for the snow.
I would have NO problem driving it as I prefer RWD, no TC/AH necessary, but the fact that it has minimal ground clearance is where the problems are going to happen.
As mentioned, ground clearance is your only issue. If you regularly get heavy snow I would forget it. I drove my SS in New England winters for about 8 years before I got a truck. Once in a while it would snow too much and the car would just start plowing. Otherwise though it was great, honestly better than my 4x4 fullsize truck with all-seasons.
Have the PS A/S ZPs but still kinda iffy in the snow

Almost killed myself with the OEM GYs and 1/4" of snow on a straight and level 6 lane highway at about 50 MPH. Car skidded and almost bit the dust in the median. When I left home wasn't snowing. I've driven thru blizzards and know how to drive in snow.
When replacing got PS A/S (all season) ZPs. Tried them in a light snow.
Still felt like I was using a toboggan but not anything like the GYs.
Keep the vette in the garage if its snowing unless you can really get some snow tires.
