[Z06] Help! I got critters...
If you use search or search this forum (in the red banner) in C5 General, you should find plenty of past threads with home concoction ideas. Use keywords "rodents", "mice", "rats", or similar.
I recall suggestions of cats, IRISH SPRING soap, mouse traps of various designs, dryer softener cloths, moth *****.
Just passing on others suggestions with no guarantees that any of those will work...
green rodent bait. Than put next to the garage door opening and under any thing else they will come out under. Plus look around and plug up any hole in walls with foam sealant. That what I did when I had the same problem plus I got me a cat or two. Between all of that I have solved my problem with the pesty liltte things.
simple green makes a super enzime cleaner that would kill the odor but the motor area had a weird musty smell after using it and sometimes came in with the heater on.......sold the truck.

Default 77 is now officially a "RAT ROD"
Funny disgusting story that happened to me today. I get a call from my son that the 77 is leaking water somewhere and overheating. He is stuck about 2 miles from his work and called me for help. He shut it down when the temp gauge reached about 250 I told him to let it cool off for awhile and than see if he can make it to his parking lot and I will see the car when I get there. Its raining cats & dogs so I know its not gonna be fun. I pack some duct tape, 4 gallons of water, tool box ,stop leak, and head out. I find the car in the lot 1/2 hr later and proceed to check it out. The rain stopped at this point but the ground is a puddle so I know I will have to get a visual on the leak to find it. I pop the hood and start it up. After a minute I see it pissing water from the front seam of the drivers side radiator behind the headlamp area. As I'm looking at it I see this gray creature running under the fan shroud " Holly sheet its a rat that got into the engine bay. It was about 7-8 inches long not counting the tail. I start banging around the engine bay hoping to flush it out . (I think it came from the shrubs next to the car.) after a couple of minutes of letting it cool again I opened the rad cap and poured in some stop leak and 3 gallons of water. I let it run for a bit hoping that the leak will slow down enough for me to get the car back home so I can pull the rad out for a repair tomorrow. As I'm watching the leak to see if its slowing down I hear this knocking sound as if the fan belt was ready to snap, I see furry pieces shooting at me and as I jump back I hear "WHACK" and through the air at a good velocity I must say this freakin rat shoots past me and slams into the window of this SUV that was parked next to me and on the ground, dead as a doornail, is the rat!. There is now rat guts in my fan shroud , blood and guts on the SUV and a big dead rat lying next to the pass door. WTF I proceeded to close the hood and calmly drive away. I did make it home and the stop leak actually worked but I pulled the rad and washed off the guts from the engine bay. It is now christened the "Rat Rod".

Forget bait & set real kill traps for rats & mice.
They like to take the bait & store it in the most peculiar places.
For instances, they can take it up into your muffler tips & store it & some times die in the mufflers. That is if your lucky.
It's best to see the critters dead & disposed of.
As far as rats, it's best to add a nail or screw to the wooden area of the rat trap & tether that to a wire to a heavy fixture.
Good luck.
