Simple green and the garden hose. I let it dry, then a light coat of wd40 done.
You go ahead and use WD40 on your filter if you want. It's your car to do with as you please.
WD40 is not recommended by any of the oil/gauze filter manufacturers or any vendor who sells after market air intakes which use oil/gauze filters in their products.
The CALLAWAY "Honker" is recognized by most Corvette enthusiasts as an outstanding air intake system. CALLAWAY has been around for years building performance cars and products.
Scroll down to the bottom of this link to the installation instructions for the "Honker" (K&N filters currently used)... http://www.callawaycars.com/componen...t-903-50-9850f
Use of WD40 and other none recommended home concoctions "can result in poor filtration" is the key phrase.
Read through the faq's section for K&N oil/gauze filters about using any other types of oil and the results... http://www.knfilters.com/faq.htm
Contact GREEN FILTERS (or whoever makes your oil/gauze filters) and ask them if it's ok to use homemade concoctions on the filter media. Here's their cleaning/oiling instructions... http://www.greenfilterusa.com/Inform...6/Default.aspx

Reason: added green filters cleaning instructions
Sorry hot wheels Ur wrong.... read vararams how to clean on the instructions... and I quote " re-oil with any aftermarket oil or we prefer wd40". Take it up with vararam, I just read the instructions...
For what it's worth, on 10/10/11 I sent a message to GREEN FILTERS, K&N FILTERS and S&B FILTERS. I wanted these three major manufacturers recommendations of what oil product is recommended on their filter media. They all manufacture filter media for after market air intake manufacturers.
I asked each if they recommended using WD40 or any other oil (or combination) to replenish their filter media.
Spin their replies in any direction you want.
From K&N FILTERS on 10/11/11:
Hello JW,
Thank you for contacting K&N and inquiring about our products. I would not recommend using anything but our oil. We have specially designed it for our filters to help filter the best it can. Please let me know if you have any other questions?
Thanks for writing,

I did not contact AIRAID or CALLAWAY (synthetic media "Blackwing"), but they market S&B recharging kits for their products.
