Default Need suggestions on Window tint

What would you do. Tint windows or leave alone. It's a 97 C5 Seabring Silver. The black interior gets really hot even with sunshades.

It's really up to you...I personally like my privacy and also like the fact that it helps keep the car a few degrees cooler...not to mention I think it looks much better as well.

Car looks a lot better with tint and stays cooler when left out in the sun.

Tint it as much as you can get away with. It will make a HUGE difference in keeping the interior from frying you come summertime. Mine is black and I have limo on it. I need all the help I can get, LOL.

Only complaint with my tint is that with the sun in the right location, I can't see my gauges sometimes. Thank god for HUD.

Tinting really helps with the heat, and I know guys up in Northern California who are tinted, and have gotten away with it, and some guys who have gotten the "fix-it" ticket, to remove the tint. It's a gamble out there. In Mississippi, I love my tint.

100%

Find someone who has done a C5 or C6 before. Ask them how they plan to handle the dot matrix part on the hatch and if they don't know what you're talking about walk away and find someone else...

The dot matrix are all of those little "dots" toward the top of your rear glass. If you just lay tint over them the tint will detach from them over time and it will look like $hit. There are ways to tint over them and good shops know what they are. It usually involves sanding down the dots a bit and putting an adhesive on them so they'll stick. Another alternative is just to cover that portion with black vinyl; it will not obstruct your rear vision at all. Most good tint shops will give you the choice.

There are a lot of threads on here about this... Here's one: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c5-g...a-few-pix.html

Tint with the darkest you can. 3M products are very good.

Check your state and local laws. My car came from Oklahoma and they have no tint law but here in Texas it is checked for state inspection and some cops also carry a tint meter and can write a ticket if its too dark. Mine didn't pass at the first place I went to so I rolled the windows down and went to another. He didn't check it . I will probably have it changed before my next inspection is due.

Other than that and the fact its harder to see out at night I love the dark tint.

I had a guy do my 90 and it came out perfect. So I took my C5 to him and you could see the matrix. So I took it back and he said oh yeah, we can put vinyl on it if you want For another 20 bucks.

it wasn't the twenty bucks, it was him not mentioning it to begin with.

So make sure you ask and never assume like I did.

Go with the vinyl option for the dot matrix...much easier.
