Default Obsolete Electrical Switches

Had used this forum for DIC problems. Reset Button was bad. Mechanic calld and part no longer available. Found on ebay in Michigan the entire 5 buttons not just reset $ 105. Mechanic found used reset only for $125. Labor to open dash is not cheap. Bought cluster and overnighting from Mich to Calif. Found out Company that made my 1999 switches went out. Was told door switches, dash switches are not going to be around until somebody else makes aftermarket.

Chevy dealers and online could only tell me SOL and nothing about rebuilding. JUST WANTED TO PASS IT TO EVERYBODY ON THIS GREAT FORUM THAT YOU JUST MIGHT WANT TO PICK UP AND EXTRA WHILE THEY ARE EITHER STILL NEW OR CARS PARTING OUT.

Thanks. Sad that GM no longer produces parts for a car this is only 7 years old (for my 2004).

Reading posts like this and discontinued body panels really make you wonder if we should keep the car should something break. Thanks for the heads up.

Word. Wonder how long GM might consider making parts for the C6s. Wonder if it is even worth long term investment in these cars. Making that 392 Challenger sound even better LOL.

They made it so that the Odometer will show up if you just turn on the parking lights without starting the car.

It is getting to the point where you have to worry what you're going to do if things start breaking on the car - if you can't find a replacement part.

I believe there is a forum vendor "Corvette Recycler" or something to that affect. I think that would be your best bet short of going to a junk yard right now.

it really is sad when you can rebuild a 78 with every part (with the exception of the glove box door which no one has ever decided to reproduce) and the newer and very serviceable cars are struggling for simple (switches, etc) parts that are prone to wear because they get used often. nice to know the manufacturers have your back isn't it??

Not sure what the reasoning is. But C5s will eventually get cheap enough to just go buy a spare parts car for cheap. Or force yourself to buy a C6.

Mechanic can read and change everything from the Tech II except the E/M switch . but not from car switches He honestly says the reset swtich had tested bad so new one was needed. He feels it needs a cluster rebuild but has access to nobody that does corvetts. Has anybody had cluster rebuilt for problems ? Or am I throwing money away ?

In 1983 when I purchased my 72, nobody had parts. Now, even China is making them.

I think this is exactly what you'll see, unfortunately a bit too far down the road to help anyone who's having problems now. The community around here and some of the other forums is pretty good about helping folks out so before long you'll get in touch with someone who can get you what you need. Good luck in your search.
