I removed my BSM and put marks down the whole side of the door. I used weed eater line that was shape like a hexagon. What I thought was glue marks left over, was actually paint that came off. I'm no waxer, but this is definitely going to be a problem to fix. If I used fishing line, maybe this wouldn't have happened. Don't know.

Yea fishing line would have been your best bet. May want to post up in the detailing section, those guys can probably help you make it look a lot better

I just removed mine this past weekend. I too was worried what I would find, but all went well, no damage. I used a heat gun, a bit of 100lb fishing line to start the edge, and once the edge was up, grabbed the lifted end, heating/lifting till removed.
Sorry to see this happen to you. Like posted above, a little touch up paint. some wet sanding, polish, and you should be good.
Is that Sebring Silver? That's what I have. I have a SS front end that is damaged. I can cut a piece off and mail it to you if you want to practice. That's what I do.

I'm familiar with that trimmer line and it's way too thick for taking mouldings off. Plus the hex shape gives it sharp edges. It is made to cut after all. In addition to fishing line, I have had success with mig welding wire.
I hate to say this but the only way that will look right is with a respray. A good paint person should be able to blend it.
It turns out that the moulding covers up all the damage. I originally thought the scratches were wider then the moulding. I put the door ones back on. I still have to put on the ones right behind the vent. Thanks for the help.
