I have 2003 coupe and have read alot about column lock.
Is it true that the 03 automatic transmissions did not have the problem?
Mine was purchased recently with 18000 miles, would the problem
already have surfaced and been fixed?
I have a 1998 and experienced the column lock error today. I thought it was fixed years back with the recall but it happened again today.
Had to have it towed back to the dealer.
Anyone have any idea of how much this is going to cost me?
You need to post your own thread instead of hijacking a thread titled 03 column lock. The answers to that thread do not apply to you, and you need answers for your issue.
All c5's need the lock bypass no c5 is immune to the lock failure, if you have a c5 you need a lock bypass as simple as that.
Is it worth 50 bucks to know this thing isn't going to screw up, if you want to take a chance it's your gamble, $50 now or, just how much is a ride on a flat bed, then take into the consideration of what time of day or night it is.

Buy the thing put it on and be done with it.
Thanks Guys for the responses, it is greatly appreciated. I was able to get the car started today after charging the battery but you guys are right. I don't want this issue happening again and would like to get the lock bypass. I just checked a few sites like Ecklers & Mid America but can't seem to find one. Would you have a link or possibly direct me somewhere I can purchase one?
