Has anyone used eBay motors to buy a vette? It seems like there are good deals on there and I was wondering about the process/risks
I didn't use it to buy a vette, but I did use eBay motors to buy a Mazda RX8 that was located almost 2000 miles from where i lived. I bought it on ebay, flew out to St. Paul, MN and drove it back to California. It was an easy process. I would make sure the pictures were plentiful and all questions have been asked in detail to clarify. Also, it would be nice to find someone local (friend, forum friend, family member) to run out and look at it in person for you. I was a really easy process. Plus I think eBay has some type of assistance if you run into problems.
I bought a suburban a jet boat and jet skies off ebay. All were good deals. Just ensure that you are dealing with an ebay member in good standing with good feedback. Then you deal like any other car purchase. I bought my vette on auto trader and it was basically the same, I flew into town and drove it home so it was no different.
I've owned a business selling on ebay, as well as purchased 2 cars and sold 2 cars. Its a very easy process on both ends as long as everything is as described. I wouldn't feel any less confident buying through ebay than I would any other online method.
Found my vette on eBay. Was the highest bidder but didn't meet the reserve. Contacted the seller privately and made a deal. Had seller and car checked out. I'm very happy with transaction.
I bought my 2000 Vert on Ebay from a dealership in Texas 6 years and 33,000 miles ago. They had sold 300+ cars with 100% positive feedback. Had a couple minor issues that they took care of. Don't know if I would buy from a private owner, they have nothing to lose. Dealerships rely on positive feedback and have to much to lose if you are not happy.

Exactly how I got my '03, except I originally found the car here on the forum. The previous owner ended up putting it on e-bay before I could commit and then I was the high bidder but didn't meet the reserve. Rest of the story is the same as above.
I never bought a car in eBay, but have sold a few on their. Worked out well for me. I'd say make sure you read everything and are 100% sure you are covered if something goes wrong. There are stupid scams out there. Consider good insurance if you have the car shipped. Good luck!
Many honest sellers but you need to make sure you are buying from one of the honest ones. Pay to have the car checked out by a qualified mechanic so your not surprised. Voice of experience talking.
Yes I bought my first C5 on EBay. It was a nice car. I checked it out as best I could and drove down in my RV and picked it up. The seller was an honest man and I couldn't have been happier. I went thru the "what if's" in my mind, and was relieved when I saw the car. My avatar is that car.

Did a "Buy now" on ebay a few years back. It was a used Lexus RX300 from a wholesaler in Texas. Credible seller, lots of pictures, excellent description, worked out well.
It seems that you can't walk down the street without seeing C5's for sale. I would imagine that you could find some relatively close to where you live so you could go see the car, drive it and make a deal with someone face to face. That way you'll know what you're buying.
I bought mine on ebay. I was a little hesitant, but I wanted a CE coupe with an M6 and the Z51 option. A smaller Phoenix dealer had it listed. There were lots of pics, and the dealer answered all my questions. I bought it uneen, and flew to Arizona and drove it back.
It worked out great, and I love the car.

I think I am keeping every option open. I want such a specific vette that I do not know if shopping around is the best option. I am also looking into buyavette.net in atlanta (as I will be in that area in 6 months) or Corvette Warehouse as it is 5 minutes from my parents house. Thanks everyone for the feedback!
