In my case, I'll be focusing on suspension, brakes and trans first. Others go for power only....

Personally, after a couple of local mountain runs, I don't see a hell of a lot to change... The car definitely has more ba!!$ than I do!
Depending on your transportation costs, Bragg-Smith will be the best 3-grand (more-or-less, depending on how you do at the tables :D) you can spend on the car!
[Edit] And in case you need it: http://www.braggsmith.com - you will come away from this school with a whole new perspective on the Z06 and its capabilities. If you spend a half-hour in a coupe, and then the next half-hour in the Z06, you will understand... you will become one with the Force... (Oops, wrong movie! )

A lot of other opportunities exist in the form of High Perfromance Driver Experiences, using your own car. Join the BMW Car Club and attend their HP Driver Schools for around $400 for two days. NASA holds schools for under $300. You drive your own car on race tracks, so get solid experience with your own car, with instructors. Then, when you do any mods, take another school and see how the cars feels again. I do 6 or 7 of these a year, plus karting. Much more valuable than any 5-10hp mod for the same money. A lot of faster cars exist... get to be a good driver, and you can stomp most of them by driving what you have better then the next guy. Best part of meat servo upgrades is, they transfer to every car you drive, once installed! When you get some experience in these schools, you get a lot of solo track time. Can't argue with 137mph passes on real race tracks!
Try these links as a start. Use the web and hunt down all the tracks in your area. If its a road race course, they will be holding HPDE events you can get into several times a year. BMW CCA, Porsche, Miata, Alpha Romeo, and Buick clubs (to name just a few), have no porblems with other makes showing up to their schools, BTW. It also gives one a chance to see what other cars are like on-on-one.

1. CAGS eliminator! Get rid of annoyance of 1st to 4th shift in traffic.
2. B&M Ripper shifter. Clean, precise, shorter throws. Much harder to miss shifts at those driver schools.
3. Harness Bar & 5 Pt. racing harness. Keep driver locked in place for better car control at driver schools + SAFER!!
4. Don't skimp on a really good helmet for driving school.
5. Halltech or other good Cold Air Induction system for easy extra bolt on HP that will only help you as you progress at driving school.
That is all!! Car is that good outta the box! :chevy
