Need a replacement bolt for my headlight assembly. The only way to get it according to the dealer parts guy is to order the whole headlight at a tune of 1k. Anywhere else i can get the bolt with plastic sleeve and nut? Thanks
Which bolt are you missing? Sounds like one of the two "piviot" bolts where the headlamp assembly attached to the headlamp frame. If so and you lost both the bolt and the nylon bushing I would just find a stainless machine screw that is the closest in diameter to the original and use a Nylok nut on the end so that you don't have to tighten it too much. Put a bit of grease in there where the nylon was and your done.

Got mine from a local shop that repairs/rebuilds Corvettes. They have left over and damaged parts. Got it for free too! Check any shop that repairs Corvettes and or sells used parts.
I stripped the golden rod ( headlight adjuster) on mine and had to spend the big $$$ for the new headlight assembly. I was keeping the old assembly for spares as I have two C5's.
Like the OP I find it hard to swallow that one has to buy the whole assembly when one needs only one small sub component.
I think I have the two screws with plastic sleeves and nuts in the basement and would welcome a reasonable offer to help defray my outlay on the whole assembly.
Assuming I sell the bolts/nuts/ sleeves, I am willing to part out the rest of the assembly.
I will check my records. I got this exact bolt and plastic sleeve from a corvette recycling center. I will get back to you tommorrow if I can find the paper work. It was a few years ago.
I believe it was Corvette Recycling a forum vender here. Just scroll down and look to the left under used parts.

I have an account with FullerMetrics out of Vancouver. If JW is willing to host the orders for forum members, I'm willing to purchase enough in bulk to keep costs to everyone at a minimum.
The OEM's certainly aren't going to get more plentiful over time...
I guess I don't see the problem. When I stripped mine I would just find a stainless machine screw that is the closest in diameter to the original and use a Nylok nut on the end so that you don't have to tighten it too much. Put a bit of grease in there where the nylon was and your done. Has worked just fine for over 5 years
