Default Seat Memory

New owner of 2004 convertible. So far just a few bumps looking for help with. One is the seat memory "forgets". Set both to our specs but gone when we try it again. Common problem??

It must be enabled via the DIC buttons "options". Another thing is if you start the car with the door open it will forget. Sometimes on mine it has alzhiemers about moving but if I push the button it goes to the preset I had.

Mine has amnesia too. Found that if you lock the car with the remote , then open with it the memory is retained (most of the time).
Sometimes when removing the key the seat goes all the way forward squeezing me into the steering wheel. Crazy seat!!!

Mine should be called "seat dementia". It does everything BUT retain it's memory unless I hit the recall button.

I am in control of almost everything else, but the memory seat has put me in my place.

It works most of the time, then just to let you know who's boss, it will go about half way. I think I can hear it laughing.

Does anyone have one that actually works the way it should?

I set my memory settings, but when I shut the car off nothing moves. The seller said that when you shut the car off, the steering wheel, and seat are supposed to move to give you more room for getting out. I get everything where I want it, and push and hold the memory button until it flashes. Am I doing something wrong?

I have found that memory dementia occurs when the car has been sitting for several days and there is a slight voltage drop in the battery. Once up and running at full charge, everything appears to work fine. Let the voltage drop a little and the gremlins start to show up with AC temp pre-settings, steering retract and the like. I'm starting to keep a trickle charger on it if it is going to sit for a week or so.

Pretty sure there's something in the DIC options to make the seat move all the way back when you shut the key off. Mine does...most of the time. Don't think my steering wheel ever moved like that.

Mine always worked perfectly, put the key in, the steering comes back and seat goes forward. Shut it off and pull the key seat goes back and steering goes forward. If you don't unlock the door with the FOB then you need to push the setting # button on the door to activate the memory setting. I enjoyed the memory setting for about 4 or 5 years and then turned it off to save the motors.(and because I have the seat almost all the way back when driving and it's easy to get in and out of without moving anything)

Ooh...that's a good point! I never thought about the extra wear and tear on the motors!

You have to have easy entry enabled for it to work. I shut mine off, so it wouldn't wear out the motors.

Are you pulling the key out? It has to be pulled out of the ignition first. Is the the easy entry set to "on" on your DIC?

I guess it wasn't. Good point made though about saving the motors!
