I don't have a picture of them but the Michelins appear narrower because they have rounded side walls whereas the GYs are more flat. The Michelins also have that "rim protector" extension on the sidewalls that makes the tread area look narrower.
That said, the Michelins handle like they are on rails. The rounded side walls and softer compostition and construction stick to the actual roads that we drive on. The GYs may be better at ultimate grip on perfectly flat race tracks. I always found them skiddish on bumpy turns. Not so with the Michelins.
just curious, any photos of C5 with the Michelin tires. I see comments about them looking different.
thanks ahead of time
slj455 - thanks for this post! I was curious as well. Also great to see the photos - thanks Vetteman for uploading those. I will be replacing my GY run flats in the Spring and I'll be going with the Michelins.
The ZP run flat version is identical to the non ZP. On my second set.
Although I'd much prefer the stance of the Goodyear F1 Eagle EMT. It's just too bad GY didn't re-formulate the layers and produce a new generation of the EMT giving us better traction and more quiet ride.
The Michelin "Plus" version came out with the ZR1's release with that as their OEM tire. (For clarity, the ZR1 uses the Pilot Sport PS2 ZP.) Not the same tire as the Pilot Sport A/S Plus. And in Michelin's re-formulation of the non-Plus version, they are able to provide a 45K mile warranty (pro rated) on those Plus models.
It's a great all around tire for this vehicle. Especially if you want the security of a run flat, but either model is great.
I'm still thinking about for my next set going back to the F1 Eagle EMT.

You might want to also check out Hankook V12's, they have been getting quite a bit of ink on this forum lately. The price is significantly less also.
