Hi All-
I had a P0410 error thrown a few years ago when I had my last emissions check and after spraying the valves with WD40 was able to pass. Fast forward to this year when I need a new emissions check and the gremlins must have been listening as they started throwing the P0410 code just in time for my check. I've gone through several of the posts on this (and other) forums but can't seem to get a definitive answer on how I should move forward in my situation.
I've removed the air hoses at the junction on the drivers side near the alternator. When I start the car I can hear the pump spin up and can feel a decent air flow coming from the front (pump) side of the hose and suction coming from the engine side of the hose. This leads me to believe that my AIR pump is working just fine.
So now I'm wondering exactly where to go next. I've been told that it's likely a check valve issue but if that's the case they would BOTH have to be failing at the same time to throw this particular code (versus a P1415/P1416) . I'm planning to try carb cleaner followed by WD40 but wanted to get the ball rolling on other possible causes for this error that I could check
Could it be sensor related? Any help or input would be very much appreciated.
Well I tried intake cleaner followed by some WD40. After taking it out for a ride the check engine light is back on and the computer is reporting the same code. My next step will be to try to clean out the driver side check valve manually and see if that helps (the passenger side looks difficult). If it doesn't are there any other places I can look for issues?
I did have some batter leakage issues but my understanding is that the vacuum line under the battery is what turns the electric pump on and off. I've already confirmed that the pump is working because I get cold air coming out of the line by the drivers side fender.
Am I mistaken in what the vacuum line does and could it still cause P0410 even if my pump is working? Also, where is the best place to find/access the vacuum line in question? From the engine bay or under the car?

Reason: Added question.
Check the vacuum lines and replace everything but in the end it is an unecessary bunch of junk that GM put in this car to do one thing. The system is to introduce "fresh air" to the downstream exhaust. I spent several hundred bucks chasing this when I first bought the car and I finally found a tuner that changed all the parameters so that the computer did not throw a code and the CEL did not come on. It cost me $100 and it was the best money I have spent on the car so far! No issues in performance.
