I know what kbb value is for the car but I was curious what you guys would think is a fair price for a, 2004 Z06 - 7,100 Miles and 100% Stock. I got the final numbers on it but I still think I could get it down more but they are not moving on it. What's it worth??
For an 04 with that low of miles, all stock and assuming a clean carfax and low # of owners I would say someone would ask $27-28k from what I've seen these going for in my area. That's extremely low mileage, must be a very nice car. I would think the lowest someone would take would be $25k.
Clean carfax, 1 owner..I offered $27K but they will not budge off $29K. I am thinking about getting it anyway but I just wish I could get that $2K off...it also has chrome coupe/C5 wheels which I am not happy about at all. I said 100% stock but I guess that's 99% b/c it does have the wheels on it but that's it. I know $29K is not getting ripped off but they are just not budging.
I would love to know that answer, it's coming from a Dealer so I don't know if I will ever be able to find out. I am not happy about that at all, also want to pay $27K but it just doesn't seem like this kinda car with low miles will come around everyday...and you add in the fact that I am not a baller and will be trading in my 05 GTO so I need to finance the rest so I can't just pick one up from a private seller. I am going to try and get some pics up.
Must be from a dealer not private party I assume. That is real low miles and nice that it is only 1 owner but thats a fairly high price their asking. I could see paying $26 but $29 is pretty steep to me. Stinks that it doesnt have z wheels too, I would use that to your advantage. Tell them that you would have to buy a set of z wheels to make it complete and that it wold cost you a couple thousand. Of course you could probably pick up a set used for under $500 here Im sure.
I know exactly what you mean gregg, I used the argument already to no avail. If the car is perfect when I see it with no scratches/dings anything at all.....I just don't know if I can walk away for $2K.
The deal isn't done I am still thinking about it, the 2 things holding me back are the wheels not being stock and them not wanting to budge on the price.
While I am at it I wanna thank everyone on the boards for helping me out, and sorry to have posted 2 threads about this car tonight. If this one doesn't work out I will find another z06 so it's in my future that's for sure.
Any recommendation's on what to look for when I go to look at it or any Z06 I decide to buy? I will be searching the forums just wanted to kinda introduce myself.
Drive a 2005 Pontiac GTO, 47K miles Black/Black 6 speed 100% stock. I also ride a 2008 GSX-R 1000 with 2,500 miles which is also Black. Would love to post some pics for you guys but it will not let me post attachments.
i'd pass. power to say no is most powerful weapon on earth. dealer's got nothing other than you and they know it, and see you as going gaga over it.
where do you live? reason i ask is if it's anywhere where winter is nasty, swing by in another month or two when there's a foot+ of snow on teh ground and say "how's $26k sound, now that you're 3+ months sitting on that z06 in the middle of winter?"
there will ALWAYS be another Z in your desired configuration. it's just a matter of time.
Last October I bought an '04 Z with 1300mi for $27k. Small classic car dealership was originally asking $32k for it and also wouldn't budge.
Long story short, I passed. Noticed in the trader (about 5 months later) they had changed advertisement to call for price. When I did they were down to $27k.
Funny thing is that this was $1k less than what I offered them 5 months prior and had told the owner to call me if he changed his mind. Guess he thought it would sell no problem and round filed my info.
$27k over here on the west bank for a very low mileage C5Z is almost unheard of. Sometimes it just right place, right time.
#1 rule...if it's not the exact car you want for the price you are willing to pay, then walk away. There'll be another opportunity in the near future. There are far too many of these cars out there, so just be patient.
... and will be trading in my 05 GTO so I need to finance the rest so I can't just pick one up from a private seller. I am going to try and get some pics up.
If you're trading in your GTO, then it's the difference you'd have to pay/finance along with the financing rate that is the bottom line. If they won't come down in price then make them give you more trade-in and a better financing rate so you have a difference you can accept.
This isn't a Z16 model, is it? Does it have stripes on the hood?
$28K and a extra $500 for my trade, I am leaning towards yes.....I wouldn't mind some opinions on it though. So they came down from $29.989 to 28K and threw in a extra $500 on my GTO.
Although it sounds a little more appetizing, I myself would probably still pass. But this is just me. Here's why.
When I was searching websites, I only looked at cars that were fully stock. So in saying that, once I would have seen a pic of the car it would not have even gotten a look over at that original asking price, due to the fact that the OEM wheels were already missing. Once I saw that and the price I would have turned the page.
My only difference in searching the web and getting a look first hand would have been; OK, I'm here, might as well take a look. But more than likely I would have still walked after they said no to my low ball offer. Again due to the wheels not being OEM.
As someone mentioned, you might be able to find a used set of ZO6 wheels for about $500, but if you want the OEM tires you're looking at another $1500. There are some other less expensive options, but it all depends on what you want and/or what tires the car has now; will they fit the OEM wheels?
I know you've heard it probably a dozen or more times, but once more it all depends on what you want and what you're willing to pay. Make sure it's the exact car you want that's in your budget. Don't settle or compromise.
That's really clean looking from the pics. And somehow I missed that it had the mod red interior. Although, I personally don't care for the interior, I think I'm a minority. Also forgot how low the miles were.
HMMMMM!!! I see your conundrum. But I still would not care for the fact that the OEM wheels are MIA. (JMO)
Man, if this is definitely the car you want and it shows as well in person as the pics and they have come down to $28k and offered another $500 on trade-in...f'n go for it.
Yea I am getting it, They went another $750 instead of $500 for my trade. I wanted it for $27K but I just didn't get there, I think I can settle for $28K. I am driving to pick it up tomorrow, it's 347 miles away....ouch! lol

Great looking car and I love the Mod red interior. I still think it's a little high but if that's the car you want I can't fault you for taking it.

Iceman, It's all about compromise, and you got them to move. Get the car and don't look back! (However with a Z, that's about the only place you will find anyone...behind you!)
I paid 24G's for my 02 Z with 16k miles. You are doing fine, and you can feel assured that you have a nice car that will stay that way for a long time. Good luck!
As an aside, and I'm not trying to start a flame war at all, we are all bretheren here, but the arguments put forth regarding the wheels were weak. The seller doesn't want to hear, nor do they care that you don't like something on the car and would have to spend $XX to "correct" it. Suspicion about the lack of original wheels and why they were changed is about as much as one can do with that argument.
