Took Big Red in Friday after speaking my dealership for two items- PCV baffle replacement and a new throttle body. After the dealership did a "snap shot with the Tech 2 while I drove around at some great speeds all specs appeared to be in compliance expect the throttle was only opening 99%. So we checked the throttle body and found oil behind the blade on my 3500 mile baby. Dealer says order a new PVC baffle plate and throttle body- fine.
THis past Friday was replacement day and all went well until be pulled the intake off the LS6- there was oil in the intake, oil in the heads, oil, oil, oil every where! We get the top enegine plate off and the PVC baffle looks fine to me-no seperation or gasket problems.
All parts changed. I suspect that this is also related to excessive blow by caused by- you guessed it-rings! I guess that's next on the agenda.
Re: PCV System Replacement-Guess What I found? (rickvette)
rick........BINGO..............
That is the ONLY potential cure.for that problem........
Man I wish GM would do a total recall on these cars.......
Customer loyalty would SOAR.......
Instead of the verbal abuse & arguments taking place now...
The very fact that they placed ANY of the blame for this problem on the C5 owners still sticks in my craw......... :U
Re: PCV System Replacement-Guess What I found? (rickvette)
My 2001 goes into the dealership on 5/20/02 for rings. The dealership I use has done over 50 C5's for rings to date. We discussed possible scoring of the cylinder walls and if that's the case-its new engine time!
I expect a smooth surgery and am looking forward to my "new ride" after she gets some new rings.
