Default Help with electronics...

Trying to help a friend and I've been out of C5 info for some time...so bear with me
I've tried searches, pulled up the info here that is available, none seems to have helped. So here it is what I got...

98 C5, A4 built 11/97. Has had the dealer install on the column bypass.
Upon starting, still gets the "pull key, wait 10 seconds" and "service vehicle soon" messages on the DIC, car will idle but after a few minutes, the BCM starts a clicking noise, put in gear and it dies along with losing electric features on car. If let idle for 30 minutes, car will die on it's own and same result. When doing this, hooked to a scanner, it (scanner) reads it has lost connection.

Any info on this sound different then the usual CL stuff? And thanks

ALWAYS check your battery first. C5s hate marginal batteries. Battery must accept and hold a full charge overnight (disconnected from car). 12.6-12.7 volts measured across the battery terminals, engine off. If you have any doubts about the battery's condition, replace with known good one, fully-charged, then see what problems remain.

Good tip...didn't even think about the battery, assuming it's good
