Kevin,
I don't think you can get an actual "date" of build or completion from the VIN.
You would probably need the build sheet for that and even then, the actual build date might not be on there.

Check it out:

Get in touch with either Gene Culley (gmpartshouse.com) or Dennis Fichtner (forum member CeYaBye) at Fichtner Chevy and they can run a GM VIS report for you. All they will need it the VIN.

I learned of a VIN decoder site (Compnine) from someone here. Got a printout with not only the build date but every option/RPO code for my car. Unfortunately I just went there to check and there is a message that the site has been closed. Glad I printed it out when I did.

Thank you guys. This was a big help. Sticker on the driver door shows 2/01. Other information links put the car at 2/26/2001 birthday. 161 cars produced for the day. Believe from my trip to Bowling Green that they typically run 4-10 hour shifts, which would put the car's VIN number at roughly 1:48 PM, Monday on February 26, 2001.

Close enough - thanks again. Appreciate the help.
