Default WTH ? Crazy door issue.

I've had my car for three years now and something extremely random happened today that I can't explain. I left my phone in the car and went out to get it. I pulled open the passenger door and heard a "pop" and felt the door catch. Strangest thing. The part of the door that bulges out to form the scoop that is on the side of the car, caught on the front fender. Completely random. It has never caught before and doesn't touch now. It won't do it again although it is very close. What would cause the gap to change? It has never been hit, and was essentially a new car when I bought it three years ago (only 13k miles). Any ideas? Could the frame be flexing somehow? The door has no play in it and the fender is tight.

Have never had that happen. Could it be that some bolt/nut that holds the door in place has worked loose and occasionally will allow the door to shift? Just a guess.

Could something have fell in there, that you didn't notice, that could have popped out when you opened the door?

Check the door hinges and see if there is any play in them. That is the only thing I can think of that could change, I had to replace my drivers door hinges a few months ago.

Did you jack your car up on that side not using a jacking puck? Maybe if you did it pushed the fender out of alignment. Just a random thought.

Check them all, all the mounting points and check the door for flex, open and lift gently up and down to see if hinges have issue!

Thanks,Matt

Hinges - tight
Fender - tight
No play in the door
Fender flexes when pushed on, but is tight.
No jacking it up for months.
No hits
No speed bumps
Nothing but regular driving and an occasional sprint up to speed and back down again.

It is not touching and I've opened it 10 times since and it has not caught,

I have no idea whay it did this.
