Priced pretty good but I cant find anybody that has tried them. I am also looking into getting a set of the cheaper LGs used.
Are double adjustable worth it for me or should I just pick up a single adjustable. I dont really know the differences beteen single and double.
Advise me!
You want a set of drag racing shocks or you are wasting your money. That said the earlier QA1's were basically drag shocks, and they weren't worth a darn on a road course. These shocks are talking about how well they handle and they are probably more set up for road course duty.
Just because a shock is "adjustable" that doesn't mean it will work on both applications. For a simple example, most adjustable shocks adjust the high speed damping, not the low speed damping (the stuff you need to adjust for drag work). As a result, even though you are adjusting them, you aren't adjusting what you need to adjust to get weight transfer off the line.
Some single adjustable shocks adjust both jounce and rebound togethter (which is pretty worthless) and all you really get is a shock that is anywhere near correct (for handling) at only one setting. Most good single adjustables adjust rebound and since for handling compression damping is related to spring rate and if you don't change springs, you don't need to change compression damping.
You need to get yourself educated on what kind of damping curves you want for a drag shock, and then find the right shock to do what you want to do. I could tell you a wealth of info on road course shocks, but drag shocks are a totally different story.
While double adjustables can adjust compression damping, and that is important to you for the rear shocks, there is an advantage there. But if the low speed damping is set up for a road course it still isn't going to be a good shock at the strip.
Triple adjustable shocks (like Penske's) have adjustment for low speed damping in addition to high speed damping and, providing you know how to tune them could offer what you want. Don't ask what triple adjustable shocks cost... Can you say Cha Ching..... I knew you could.....
My suggestion is to talk to somebody who is SUCCESSFULLY drag racing what is close to your setup and then go from there, or get educated on shock curves so you can figure out what you need.
