C5 Trailer Hitch
First off, sorry if I posted this on the wrong forum but I was thinking of intalling a trailer hitch so I could tow my bike (motorcycle) with me.
I like to keep my Vette with me where ever I go and use my bike when I get there.
Any pros or cons or advice?
Thanks for any input you might have.

I personally don't find anything wrong with it. I have 3 Harleys and feel the same way but I usually just ride wherever I want to go on my bike. I have done over 8000 miles in 3 weeks on my Electra Glide and over 4000 miles in 1 week in my Vette. I wish you the best in your endevour of putting a trailer hitch on your Vette but I will never put one on mine...Just my .02 cents
Also, get ready to get flamed. Lot's of people will criticize you for wanting to do this. Personally I don't think there's anything wrong with it as long as you aren't towing anything heavy. The motor has plenty of power for towing (although your clutch won't like it if you have a 6MT) but the frames on these cars were not built for it. It's even in the owners manual...

The last trip I took on the bike was about 2 years ago frome Southern California to Austin TX for a motorcycle rally. Arizona is flippin HOT in the summer. Never again. Besides even with all the bike and bikers I still missed my Vette. That and I'm getting too old for that type of trip.
I tell my wife that I see a Gold Wing in our future. She just laughs.

Thanks. I've looked in the past and I'm drawn to the Draw-Tite, not because of it's price but it's well known.
Just trying to find anyone that has done this successfully.
My son bought a C5 a few years ago that had a hitch on it. The guy was towing his Jet Ski with it. My son had a Jet Ski too, so he kept it until he wanted to go with an aftermarket exhaust. The hitch had to go then.
If you have an aftermarket exhaust, I would check for fitment.
A trailer hitch on a vette is one of the worst things you can do in my opinion. But if you really want to put one on I'm sure it would be alright, especially if you have an M6.

Good point. I have the Borla Stingers on mine. I'll have to check.
Not sure what your bike weights, but I have been towing with my C5 for a few years and have not had any problems. Go to any race course and you are sure to see a few Corvettes with trailer hitches. I even saw a Porsche 911 with one installed. Here's a few pictures of mine. Plus I am running an aftermarket LG exhaust made by Borla and not fitment issues. I had the Hidden Hitch set up professionally wired and installed at a trailer shop. The techs were all taking pictures of a Corvette in there shop, as opposed to the normal F250 type trucks!

There have been a few members here that have installed trailer hitches on their cars - to pull a jet ski, small trailer for track days, etc. They haven't reported any issues that I have seen. But like was mentioned above, the owners manual does not recommend pulling anything with the car.

And if that hitch hauls a trailer with track tires and tools, for the owner who likes to drive his or her car at the maximum in a safe environment, you object?
Putting a hitch on a vette is like taking your girlfriend out to the dump on a date...neither is a good idea.....buy an F150....
Before I got my truck the C5 was my only car (the bike doesn't count) and there were times I seriously considered putting a hitch on it. If you can afford to have a truck as well that's obviously the better solution. If you can't what's wrong with doing a little light pulling with your vette?
I towed with my 17 Miata. It’s fine, just don’t exceed the 200lbs tongue weight. Also a big help is trailer brakes. Not because we can’t handle it, rather it’s a big help to stability.
