Default Need advice on horns?

I was interested in getting a new set of horns for my 2003 coupe. One of our fellow Corvette member had a nasty side wreak with a 18 wheeler who decided he was going to merge into the right lane, not expecting a Corvette was already there and he was blowing his horn. But it was too little too late.

Today I had a similar roadway duel in the sun with a three 18 wheelers who were playing roadway magical chairs with me as I tried to past them on the PA turnpike. No matter how I maneuvered the Corvette, one of them were playing "block the sports car out" so despite my darting from the right lane across to the far left lane and sure enough there was one the trio to block me out, I hit the gas and beat one of the turds to the right lane only to have his pal slid across to block me back down into the locked right lane strangle hold. it was only after I faked one of them into thinking I was going to use the center lane, and I punched the Vette, and blasted pass the cowboy in the far left lane and finally the last one couldn't cut me off fast enough and I was free and clear. But I'm doing close to a hundred MPH.

My horn was of very little use, and it was then I remembered the post from one of us who got chewed up by a 18 wheelers front wheels. So does anyone know of a good really loud horns I can replace my stock wimpy OEM horns with ? I don't like to use the horn, but I need something with more audio ammo ! Thank you !

And you think a louder horn would have made a difference in todays game?

The horn probably wouldn't make any difference with those jerks. If you had a cell phone, that would have been the time to call the state highway patrol and see if they can assist. No excuse for the truckers doing what they did.

You can get an air horn kit, comes with a small compressor. I've seen them in a pretty compact package.
Would sure be a shock when you lock your doors though.

I have a horn mounted in my center console and it sounds real loud next to rubber. Gives off a sound that is very reconizable.
Price for parts and installation about $600
part # S&W 357
It ll open up a hole you can drive your vette threw easy. Has many other apps too ! If you on nerve meds just put it in your hand and all anexity is gone.

after a near miss 6 or 7 years ago in the family car, I installed this into all 4 of our street legal cars

http://www.griotsgarage.com/product/...ortby=ourPicks

in the vette, installed in the right side front lower area and ran wires to battery and located relay there

made a mounting bracket out of some 1" by 1/8" mild steel from Lowe's

drilled a couple of holes in the metal, took out an existing bolt and installed one end under it

easy to do
