Finished up the frost king Mod today,(guess it's a mod). I did the passenger side couple of days ago. This was fairly easy, just a couple of hours for each side. I put the frost king down first, then put the reflectix bubble insulation on top of that. Got a lot of help from SG Lou & Bill Curlee prior to doing this. I can say now with this installed that it is a lot cooler. The console doesn't even get warm now. Before, you could heat a cup of coffee on it. Below are some pics.
First, you have to remove the seat, gas pedal stop (2 10mm nuts) & foot rest (2 10mm nuts), door sill & seat belt trim.
1. Carpet removed (one piece, real nice).
2. Front area with gas pedal stop & foot rest removed.
3. Rear area showing seat control module wires. You remove them
when taking out the seat. Don't forget to reconnect them later.
4. Frost king partially installed in leg area.
5. Installing frost king in rear seat area. The Reflectix Bubble
insulation was removed from the seat bun area.
6. This is the reflectix bubble insulation on top of the Frost King.
7. Pass. Side complete with Bubble insulation. Frost King &
Reflectix Bubble insulation was installed over every area. The
radio cage was removed also & insulated as far as I could reach.
8. Console area completed
It took 4 rolls of Frost King & 1 roll of Reflectix Bubble insulation.

Looks like you have done a nice job. This is intriguing to me not just for the Z but also for my 70. What did you use to cut the Frost King? It looks like you got it in there nice and tight. Did you glue it down?

the kits i have helped install they come pre cut for the most part..and you use a 3m spray glue....let it tack up then lay it down...then use a vent duct tape to seal the joints...they work great
The Frost King has an adhesive backing so it's real easy to put down. You can even pull it up and reapply if you don't get it right the first time. I put it down without any gaps between the sheets so it was sealed really good. The Reflectix Bubble insulation has foil on both sides of the bubble & just lays on top of the Frost King. Lays down really good & the bubble insulation put a barrier between the Frost King & the Reflectix. You can do this to any car I would think. The good thing is if you're not satisfied you can remove it, nothing like some of the ones they use with the boom boxes. Its made the inside cooler & quieter.
Did it make a big difference? I have been thinking about doing this for a while now but haven't heard much as to how much quieter it is. Does anyone know if it works as good as dynamat? Or, at least close to as good.
I installed the BXTII and Ensolite system when I upgraded my interior last year. I also installed a thermal tunnel plate when I installed my x-pipe earlier this year and that not only reduced the heat, but also improved the frame and suspension/handling.
Since I also installed new tires, it's hard to tell how significant each mod was torwards noise reduction. I own a vert and I do know the sound has significantly been reduced when driving on the expressway with the top up. However, since I also installed a new stereo & sub, I guess the music is louder as well. The heat from the center console has also been reduced. Now when I open the center console arm rest, the tray is just warm. Before it would melt a candy bar in 10 minutes.
