Are you guys talking about just the shift **** on any manual C5 or the whole shift linkage? If just the ****, I must have gotten lucky. The PO of my car already changed the stock **** out and its super easy to remove now... I just unthread it from the shift linkage rod.... I know because its a polished aluminum one with the shift pattern engraved on it (kind of old school looking, I really like it) and I'll take it off and put it on the buffing wheel every so often to make it look like new again.

Six862m6, yes this thread is about removing the "demon key" from a stock C/5 manual shift ****/shaft, prior to being able to unscewing it all the way off.
