I had a similar choice last year and went with the vert (M6). IMHO sports cars need to be roadsters. If I need more HP I'll go with a supercharger.

Great problem to have...choosing between two Vettes with your wife's approval! Either way, you should be able to negotiate a little more off the price of the vert due to it being a little more common, plus winter time right around the corner. Good luck, and you guys will be happy with either car!

Thanks all....I never thought it would be such a hard decision. Believe it or not, most of the time SHE prefers a 6 spd and I'm the one that usually prefers an auto. She has a Mustang GT now and commented how light the clutch was in the Z06 as compared to the Mustang. I'm just so happy that I got her to agree on another Corvette, I miss having one. Before we go any further, I need to chat with my credit union loan person to make sure I can get a 60 mo term even thought the cars are 03/04. With rates between 2.5 and 2.95%, it's a great time to buy.
I think if the credit union is a go, we will go back to the dealer, and look at them both very, very closely. Then I will walk away and let her decide. I honestly think she likes them both too. Both have highs and lows over the other. I'm thinking I should be around 24.5k - 25k or so on each car. I need to do some price comparisons before we buy.

I don't know if you will be traveling much, but we like the extra trunk room in the Z. We just did 12 days and she still had room to do some shopping, you cannot go wrong with a C-5.

Depending on where you live, you may not want a vert. I've seen tops getcut and stuff stolen just cause its easier. Either one is a great car, its just your preference. I always wanted a z, so it was easy for me. If your wife sincerely means what she says.....get what you wanted, a z. If she is testing you, get the vert. The 6 speed in stock for is easy to drive....have her drive both and go from there.

unless she really is into cars....i would get an auto vert for her daily driver....then exhaust, intake, and s/c in the near future. the vert will be more enjoyable for crusing and her dd. Also...i would look around....you can probably find a nice vert cheaper than the figures you mentioned. anyway...good luck and enjoy...you will be happy just to have a vette again!

Well, just my luck. The credit union changed their terms 2 weeks ago. I need an 05+ to get 60 mo financing, so now we're looking for a C6.

Not all women dislike a 6 speed, we bought the vette my wife and she insisted it be a 6 speed. I am glad she did as I got it as a hand me down when she wanted a SLK a year later. And yes she wanted a manual with that but it just so happen the car we found had the 7 speed auto. But good luck on your search for a C6, they make a lot of power when you add cam and headers!

I bought a used C5 vert last year and I like it a LOT. However, I would highly recommend adding a sound and thermal insulation package to reduce noise levels and the effectiveness of the AC system in a vert. This work made a world of difference in my C5.

My bride has driven a lot of C2's, C3's and a C4 4-speeds and autos

She hated the '87 with the 4+3 stick and traded it for a '87 Buick GN

She is currently driving a '98 A4 Vert and has kept it longer than all the rest combined.

Go with a Jet Stream Blue '08 Vert and she should be happy for a while.

You can always add a Z06 for your needs later !

It is a lot easier to add hp to a vert than it is to saw the roof off of a Z.
