I am wanting to race my Vert on both road courses and drag strip. I am running low 11s on the track and been threatened to be kicked off the track . Wolfe offers a roll bar that is NHRA legal (link below), and the dude there told me they can mod the roll bar that will work with road racing too. Does anyone here have a roll bar that they use for road racing, drag racing or both? Post up pics and who built it for you. My other option is putting mine up for trade for a coupe or Z06.
rr77753,
You might want to check with Steve from RSD (Race Specialty Designs)
He has recently started selling roll bars for our C/5's at decent pricing.
He is out in the west coast.
Good luck.
I've been eyeing these for a while, I've just got two problems with what I've seen:
- waterfall has to be modified: seeing as I'm customizing my waterfall, I don't want to have to hack a hole in it
- seat movement is limited by a couple of inches: being 6'4" any seat movement back lost just makes driving a tad inconvenient and uncomfortable.
I have a similar problem with my vert at the strip, I can run too fast and get booted or protested since I don't have a roll bar....I've looked at a bunch and talked with just about everybody I could find that makes roll bars, the only thing that will fit a vert and pass tech requires cutting the waterfall, and restricting seat movement....the top will still go up and down, but I'm also tall and need all the seat travel I can get....wish somebody would come up with something....
I am also considering a roll bar for my vert. I have an A&A S/C and know I would get one run at a strip and get the boot. I want to be able to remove mine when not racing. Was looking at the Wolfe roll bar and the website says if you weld the rear supports to the overhead bar it is NHRA approved. I don't mind altering my waterfall, I just wonder if it is welded will I still be able to remove it when not in use. All of the attach points are bolted to the car.
Doesn't NHRA or other sanctioning bodies still require the roll bar even if it is an FRC?
I thought it was a rule based on E.T. time rather than just for Verts?

I was in the same boat you are in. Wolfe would be a good idea If you have someone that can weld it up for you. I dont and I didnt want to learn on doing this roll bar at the time. Look at the bottom of my post for more info..

Sadly, RSD doesnt make a roll bar for the vert.

How sure are you that buying this top that every track will allow you to race with out any problem? the Top alone unpainted is ~$1500 and paint & prep is around $500.
I have a C6 Vert Rollbar from Breathless Performance that I bought from a member here for a good price. It needs some modifications and that soft top hits in two places( which I can fix) other than that it drop right in and sat perfectly under my Smoothline top. (Please excuse Image quality and the cars)
Good luck in your quest though man. I say go for the Wolfe bar

I had thought about this. At the local road track, only Verts require a bar.
I thought I read where someone made a FRC roof fit on a Vert. I tried searching and didn't come up with anything. They come up for sale occasionally off wrecks and usually much cheaper than an aftermarket.

A member has a removeable frc top but you have to switch the tonneau cover off to do it then back on for a vert
My car started life as a vert and when I decided I was going to start tracking it I had a roll bar made for my car as I couldnt find anything else out there. Its a 6pt welded in roll bar that allowed the roof to close and it didnt cut into the waterfall at all. I'm 6'1 and was able to fit in no problem. Im posting the only relevant pics I have of the bar on hand as all my pics are on another computer at work.
Awesome pics, that is the look I was hoping for. Any major issues/suggestions for installing?
Mine's not done per say, It was for a C6 vert so some changes will have to be made lol. That Wolfe roll bar looks ideal if you can have it welded. Id say go for it man. Its a great price!
Safety equipment, roll bars, are required by either elapsed time under a certain # and MPH being over a certain # determined by the sanctioning body such as NHRA. Each class has different requirements for the car & the driver, the faster you go, the more $$$ it costs.

I have a Angelwings C5C6 Track Day Bar in my 2001 convertible. I just ran with it at Auto Club Speedway (Speed Ventures) on Saturday. I've also run with it at Spring Mountain. But it is for track day/HPDE use only. It's not approved for SCCA or NHRA, but I understand that several tracks and track day organizers have signed off on it's use at their events. I just love being at speed with the top down.
It's a true bolt in and is very well made and very solid. It only took about an hour to install, and I can take it out in about 15 min. I'm 5'-9" and it fits me perfectly. If you're over 6 ft. it probably won't work, because you do lose seat travel. It does not interfere with the top operation, and you don't have to cut anything. When I remove it, there is not way to tell that it was ever installed.
