Dennis helped me with sound deadening and sound absorbing materials which also helped the AC be more effective. This was a 45 hour install but well worth it.
I added a top line Kenwood with Sirius, nav, bluetooth, rear cam, etc in a new double din carbon fiber dash. I chose to not add a sub although it would have been relatively easy to do so.
I kept the Bose woofs, replaced mids and rears with Boston Acoustic and added polk tweets.
I did all work myself with considerable help from Dennis and other Forum members. Local quote for the labor for this install was over $1000. I chose to spend part of this money to upgrade the Kenwood.
Don't waste money on rear speakers
Do the big three wiring upgrade if you are adding a sub, in fact I replaced all of my grounds
As stated earlier, sound deadening is a must. Don't skimp on wiring and fuses. I went to the extreme with my wiring using stuff from home depot. But my 1000 watt sub system with two JL 12s is rock solid.
Your music taste should help drive your purchase decisions.
For example, I listen to a lot of jazz, so I went with a sealed sub
I really like using my iPod, so look for a unit that has a high end dac converter. It will process the songs internally instead of using the mini jack on the iPod. I like clean crisp highes. I want to hear the high hat being hit when hey 19 is playing.
If you want navigation then you most likely will need a mod from Dennis.
My best advise is do your research and walk slowly. Check out several set ups in person. Then find your best deals.
