I put Vararam on my 2004 stock (auto trans) Coupe and the 0-60 mph time dropped from 5.0 to 4.5 seconds! I think this is the best bang-for-the-buck you could ever ask for.
RE: exhaust - be very careful. It's easy to end up with too much noise, or an annoying drone. The Ti exhaust is a good option.
So, with a Z06 exhaust, would I change the whole thing? Manifolds, X pipe/cats and mufflers ? or just the mufflers? What kind of HP gain would I expect? I've found the whole set-up cheap...... and local.
I have the RE760's on my car and I'm pleased with them. I've tracked my car with them and my instructor was impressed with their grip. Good in the wet too. I Also have the Z06 Ti exhaust and it sounds great at wide open throttle, and is very quiet cruising. I didn't notice a hp gain with the exhaust though. It's easy to install. I'd have a shop install the exhaust, because you have to jack the back up really high and it's pretty dangerous.
I think if you want HP it's best to save up and get a blower. Keep in mind that the LS1 will last forever if ya keep it stock though!

Just the rear section. The rest is the same as base C5's.
