Default Help w Value for 2001

Hello, I am new here. I have been a C3 guy for, well, since they were new. Anyway, I am about to buy a car and I have several people trying to talk me out of buying the C3 that I've always wanted and pushing me to C5 or C6 (for several reasons which make sense). My buddy is trying to sell me his 2001 Coupe w 18Kmi. Near mint condition. It's the regular engine not the Z06.

My question is, aside from values from a price guide, what would be a fair price range to buy this car? Again, near mint 2001 coupe, standard motor, 18Kmi.

Thanks for any input you may be able to provide.

Jax

Depends on what options it has. If the tires are original, they will need to be replaced, even if they have a lot of tread left. If well equipped, I would say around $18000. IMHO.

Sounds like a very nice car with that low of miles.
I would still have it checked out. 2001s have a bad habit of burning a little bit of oil, nothing big, maybe a quart every 3000 miles or so.
Depending on the options the car has, I would say 17k to 20k.

Depends how bad you want it and he wants to sell it...
The C5 will give a lot more comfort, drive a lot better ( acceleration, handling, smoothness) ,has better gas mileage ~29mpg hwy, and better part availability ( OEM and aftermarket)

$18K (+/- 1) depending on how you answer the first line above.

Thank you all. Very helpful! I guess the consensus is 18-19. If I get serious I may post some more details about the car. I am warming up to the idea of a C5 instead of my long time favorite C3. I guess it's more a question of whether I want to celebrate the history of the muscle car era or have a sweet car that is more fun to drive, etc.

The higher maintenance costs of the C3 are a big factor. I'm not a grease monkey personally so I'd have to pay for everything.... but the C3 is a work of art!!!

$19K-$21K depending on the transmission, options, if the title is clear with no accidents and the car needs nothing. You did not state which transmission or options the car has.

There will be some people posting low numbers but that is unrealistic for a mint low mileage C5, especially if it has a 6spd manual. You get what you pay for and the cheap C5's are usually beat, worn out with high mileage and in need of everything.

Take a look at Rogers Corvettes website and see what they are listing their cars for. They generally do not budge from their list prices and their inventory moves pretty well. Also check out TheVetteNet.com and see their list prices. In most cases their cars usually sell for list or close to their list prices too. That should give you a good idea of the value of a premium C5 like the '01 you are considering.

Great info. Thank you!

The car is Automatic but it needs nothing.

hello,
I am new here also. I just picked up a c5 01 fully loaded auto trans for $21,000. It has just over 4,000 miles on it with original tires. The owner did tell me that the windows will not go up or down sometime. Iit is a known problem I think. I will ask for help from the members on this great forum on this issue.
Good luck

01 with 4000 miles ? terrible....terrible car.....wanna sell it

Start another post with the issue you have and we'll get it sorted out for ya.

Could be something as simple as the connector to the switch (but you said windows....does that mean when it happens its both windows?).

There are R and LDCM (door control modules) sections in the onboard diagnostics. You can read about how to pull the codes to see if there is anything showing here http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c5-t...eck-codes.html

Also, the accordion where the wiring passes from the body to the door (what you see when the door is open) is sometimes a friction point. Its fairly easy to pull back that accordion and see if you see any rubbs or worn insulation that may cause an intermittant short.

Post up what you find in another post.

And welcome aboard

Since the car is automatic, I would assume then I should be in the 18-19 range?

Also, please pardon the idiot question.... I am clueless on C5's.... does the standard coupe have T-Tops or whatever the equivalent is called these days? I know the Z06 has a fixed roof but having not seen an '01 up close yet, does the standard coupe have a removable roof of any sort?

There is a single lift-off panel on the coupes. Some are clear (smoked acrylic), others are fiberglass. They can be stowed on special clips under the hatch when you want fresh air.

No! There is a single lift on panel which can be found in the trunk. It can be fitted on the roof if very cold or in heavy rain.
