I know there is a lot of discussion already about exhaust and lt headers, but I'm wondering if there are downsides to either SLP or ARH header kits with cats and x-pipe.
I've decided on the Corsa Xtreme axle back mufflers and the SLP headers are less money so I'm leaning towards that choice.
Any input or opinions would be very much appreciated!
From a guy that has installed and ran both, the SLP setup is not what you want!!!
ARH and LGs are pretty close and bother are much easier to install and you do not have to worry about wiring harnesses running between pipes...Almost melted mine!
I try to stay away from anything SLP. After dealing with their low quality Blackwing filter and reading all their outrageous claims for things like MAF's, I flat out don't like the company. This is not the only car Ive not liked their parts for either..
if i was to do it over again ARH and id use my stock H pipe and cut off the cats and have pipes made. i have LG with no cats anf x pipe none of which was easy to install and im no rookie.
I'm driving to Carlisle shortly to install another 30 sets of the AR Headers, this will be my 5th year.
There is only ONE header that is installed on-site at the event; take a look at the "Header of choice" from the top shops around the country, you will find ARH as the default choice.
I have a set of FLP's in my C5 that I installed back in '02 - those were considered great headers back then. When I was ready to install headers in the wife's C5, I went straight to ARH based on the preponderance of great anecdotal and documented installation and dyno posts here. I have installed most of the major brands of headers for the C5 over the years and the ARH headers were among the best built and easiest to install. I didn't dyno afterwards so I can't speak to actual numbers but the power was definitely improved.
