Nice day out today, decided to take the 'Vert out. Take covers off, press door unlock on fob...good....press trunk release on fob....nothing! Seen this before. Know where it's going. Get in car, clutch in, turn key, gauges sweep, car fires, dies a second later. DIC showing service this, service that, reduced power, etc. Battery is less than a year old Autozone yellow. Battery was fully charged about 5 weeks ago to about 12.8 volts before putting on a battery tender, (new). Battery showed only 12.1 volts. Disconnected negative lead, put on a 10amp charge for about 20-25 minutes, reconnected negative lead, (12.7-12.8 on battery now accross + -) cleared all codes, (codes galore by the way), car fired right up, checked codes, all good, went for a nice drive with several stops, no issues. Rant over! Just trying to figure out why this happened. Battery new, use same battery in all my cars/trucks. Battery tender new, tender showed a "green' light at all times, which is good.

Thanks!

I disconnected the negative battery cable, put my VM in series. Positive cable from voltmeter to negative terminal on battery, negataive cable from voltmeter to negative battery cable. I only saw like 0.01 on VM set to 20ma. Thought I would see more. Will play around with it more tomorrow, turn on lights etc, and see if meter reads higher. Maybe I was doing it wrong. 0.01 seemed like too low, or no reading at all.

If you keep having intermittent staring problems with lots of codes the ignition switch could be on its way out. My 01 had the same as you describe, replaced the switch and all is well. A common problem with the C5

Good luck finding the source of the battery drain - hope it is something relatively simple to fix.

Check the fuse in your ammeter just to be sure. Then connect as follows:
1. Black (-) lead from ammeter to (-) battery terminal
2. Red (+) lead from ammeter to (-) battery cable (going toward the car circuits)
