Default First drive Z06!!

Yesterday was a first drive for me in an 03' Z06 and I have to say I was really impressed! I currently own a 79' w/400 HP and there's no comparison. I've owned a BMW 330i, Jaguar, 65' vette, etc. yet for raw power and thrill this thing was just a blast to drive. Hey, I'm 63 and still love fast cars and fast women but I'm no longer gettin the fast women. Other than very stiff shifting which I mention in another post everything about the car was just over the top. I'm also considering an 02' coupe which I have yet to drive but at a bargain price. Anyway just wanted to say how impressed I was with this car....

Congrats and enjoy. As for the hard shifting, if you are referring to moving the shifter from gear to gear, I'd recommend changing out the trans fluid and replacing it with a top quality fluid. This usually makes shifting much easier.

If you like RAW power stay with the Z06 - It's a drivers car ! The Coupe is GREAT but the Z is GREATER. Believe me, I have owned both and I could never go back to the Coupe - I LOVE the close ratio 6 speed tranny on the Z besides much more to mention !

Congrats on the new ride !

I have a procedure on my web site to change the tranny fluid if you want to do it yourself. It should really loosen things up.

I also have the Anti-Venom tranny mod on my web site. That will loosen things up even more...

www.ToqueZ06.com

Hope it helps !

After driving the Z first, prepare for the coupe to feel soft and slow

Most likely the car has an aftermarket short shifter. Some brands are what many describe as "notchy" or "stiff". Easy to swap out. Many options available that would provide "smoother" shifter throws.

The fun never goes away. Almost everything else in life gets mundain after a while, not the Z06. I've had mine over two years and every time I drive it it's just as much fun as the first time.

You know, I've read all the specs and numerous road test reviews on this car and see that the standard corvette (is only .5 sec slower 0-60 and .8 sec slower in the 1/4 mile. I don't intend to race it but man it sure is nice knowing the power is there. I'm still considering an 02 coupe or this Z06 and both have low miles and good prices......I know get the Z06!

I don't think the straight Corvette is that close to the Z06.

retaf, I'm 64 and tested a brand new base 2011 coupe after driving my first Z, an '02 which is now mine. There was no comparison. There's more to it than numbers.

Thanks. There was something about the Z that I couldn't put my finger on until I read a review and the driver said it was like driving a powerful over sized go cart.

Both are an eternity in their categories.

I'm in a C6 Z06 now,but it didn't give as much impression on the first drive like my C5 Z06 did back in the day.

Z06 FTW!
