A quick google search will yield a good variety of sites including Permachrome's own. It appears to be a chrome alternative that combines powder technology with chrome. I do love the name which implies permenant but they only warrant it for 5 years! I thought forever was a bit longer than that!!!! Good Luck !

Not sure what the process involves. I remember Weld Wheels used to advertise their chrome wheels had a 5 year warranty on the chrome finish. Now about the most you get is 3 years.
Basically it boils down to the fact that most companies have reduced the chroming process to the absolute minimum in order to save pennies. The old process such as they used on cars back in the 50's and 60's used thicker plating in order to produce a long lasting finish. The chrome on my '67 XR-7 has withstood collision, abrasion, and the Arizona weather. Yet it is still in excellent shape.
I purchased a set of custom chrome wheels about 15 years ago that were cheaply chromed and they began to rust within 2 years. They had been chromed *just* enough to sell and the customer be damned.
Caveat Emptor is the rule not the exception.
