I just went through all this, haha.
I'm 24 years old. I sold my 2000 Trans Am to step into a Z06. I found a 2002 Torch Red Z06 w/ 39k miles and only paid 18k for it. I went through a credit union and got 2.99% APR and a very reasonable car payment. I have a good driving record and my full coverage insurance went from ~$630 to ~$660 for six months.
The cars are out there and if you're smart with your money and financing you can get one. Dont listen to all the negativity in this thread. These cars are not hard to upkeep and are pretty reliable.

Umm you do realize what forum you are on right...some of these guys dont care about money and make over 150k/year. I personally know a guy that owns his own car show at his house.. Most people that own vettes are snobs cause their heads are swoll. To me its just a right now car until my other ones finished. Dont get me wrong I like it but it doesnt get attention like my 70 GTO did at a car show.
I am not taking a jab at you by no means. I am only 32 but I remember when I was 25 and I used to feel the same way. BTW always have full coverage in todays reckless society. I completely lost a vehicle that my gf crashed and received NO money because it was her fault and all I had was liability. An $8000 dollar loss
I'm not quite sure what point exactly you're trying to make. First, you're calling me out, and then you're agreeing with me?
Ummm, I don't know if you know this, but "rich" people generally are some of the cheapest. It has nothing to do with making $150k+ a year and throwing money around, it's just common sense. Why wouldn't one want to carry collision on a light, high-hp, rwd sports car for only a couple hundred bucks a year when the alternative means possibly being out 20 grand for a car you just wrecked???
OP: Good luck with your search, and post up pics when you get your C5Z!

My credit union financed my '03 C5 in '09 and they said they would do the same for older cars as long as the value is there. Might want to check with some other credit unions.
Reviving an old thread, but just want to say thanks to all, I financed my Z06 thru Western Federal Credit union and got a low 3% rate and as for insurance I am paying $160 for full coverage, goes to show a Z06 can be affordable and careful planning can get you a good deal!
And this is my baby, 2002 Z06 with 33k miles, so far im in love with her!!

Sweet car OP I forgot about this thread Glad to see you bought your Baby now dont sell her ever until you get another one and dont let some women tell you that you need to sell it. Now go enjoy the hell out of it Brother
Insurance is generally cheap on Corvettes. Keep in mind most of them are owned by old geezers who never drive above 30 mph. Vettes don't see a huge amount of traffic accidents.
OP is 21. He is going to be rated as a 21 year old driver. The type of car at this point will have an affect on his premiums, but more so, his age will. Liability (mostly) is what he is paying for, not replacement cost of his car.

He hit the nail on the head. If you truly love it, you will go into a total slump if you sell it without intentions or another one lined up, ask me how I know. Also, +10 on NEVER, EVER letting no damn female tell you "It has to go!" if something has to go, SHE does if she makes that claim!
One more word of recommendation, DRIVE IT!! Do not make it a garage queen PLEASE!!
On the insurance side, a Corvette (ANY Corvette) is cheaper on insurance than ANY other car for me, unless it is some 20+ year old car. I must have quoted just about every sports car out there. The only other car that has comparable insurance was a brand new Camaro SS, and neither me nor the insurance company knows why the insurance on that would be so cheap for me.

Wells Fargo Auto Finance will finance it...note, this is a differant division than the retail banks, but the bank can probably connect you to the right division.
Thanks guys, I really appreciate all the love! and Qweklain, drive the car I will! I drive the car to work everyday and everday is an experience! One of the things that I love about the car is the mpg, for a 405 hp car it gets exceptional miles per gallon, thats one of the number one things I love to brag about this car, call me crazy but everyday I try and get better and better mpg! lol other than that I love rowing thru the gears! Thanks again guys for making this possible!!!
